Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking a Maintenance Technician III to support manufacturing operations, diagnose and repair electro-mechanical equipment, and perform detailed setup to support production. The role requires an associate degree or equivalent experience; 3–7 years in manufacturing maintenance; strong safety and troubleshooting skills; and the ability to train Level I/II technicians.

• 3-7 years’ maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of Lock-Out, Tag-Out procedures.
• Able to adhere to safety policies and commit to customer quality.
• Available for regular standby assignments; work off-hours and overtime as required.
• Proficient in Word and Excel.
• Willing to attend training sessions, including out of state locations.
• Ability to assist in Training Level I and II Technicians.
• Intermediate knowledge of fabrication (e.g. welding, basic machining).
• Strong work ethic and knowledge of intermediate troubleshooting.
• Able to read printed materials, blueprints, schematics, and computer graphics.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team, including relationships with employees, vendors, contractors, and suppliers.
• Attention to detail in a very fast paced environment.

• Perform preventive maintenance tasks per instructions.
• Enter all work completed in the maintenance program.
• Monitor spare parts usage and complete parts orders.
• Adjust equipment based on SPC data and coordinate with QA.
• Train Level I/II technicians on complex tasks.

Job Description

Summary: Maintenance Technician III is an Electro-Mechanical position and responsibilities will include but not be limited to supporting manufacturing operations, adjusting and repairing equipment as needed, tracking usage of and ordering replacement parts.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair complex electro-mechanical problems with manufacturing equipment
• Perform detailed setup on equipment including recipe changes and control adjustments
• Repair and keep mechanical machine components in top operating condition
• Advanced understanding of electrical principles such as voltage, current and resistance
• Diagnose and repair electrical control circuits, field devices, sensors, photo eyes, etc.
• Advanced understanding of electrical safety and motor control circuits and programmable drives
• Troubleshoot the inputs and outputs on PLC and repair issues
• Complete projects to add electrical circuits and controls, new equipment and relocate machines
• Maintain and repair pneumatic systems including repairs of cylinders and other components
• Perform simple to complex mechanical Preventative Maintenance Tasks following instructions
• Enter all work completed in computer-based maintenance program
• Monitor and report spare parts usage including completing parts order forms
• Adjust equipment based on Statistical Process Control data and team with QA
• Train Level I and II technicians in more complex tasks and skills
• Performs other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

• Must possess strength, stamina and mobility to perform heavy physical work with exposure to potentially hazardous conditions, use varied hand and power tools, drive a motor vehicle and/or light construction equipment, fork trucks, platform lifts etc.;
• Lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 90 pounds and heavier weights with the use of proper equipment;
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; use fingers and hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop and kneel; talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and sit for long periods, as well as occasionally be required to climb or balance.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
• Exposure to variable temperatures as impacted by the weather, chemicals, and rotating shifts

Work Environment

Mainly a manufacturing facility, where exposed to moving mechanical parts, forklifts, heavy pallets, moderate to loud noise level, and air-borne dust, powders, and fumes. While working, will be required to wear various personal protective equipment (e.g., clothing, gloves, goggles, safety glasses, steel toed shoes, cut resistant aprons, etc.) based on work area or task.
