Job summary

AbbVie in Cincinnati is seeking an experienced packaging equipment technician to troubleshoot and repair high-speed bottling and thermoforming lines in a GMP environment. You will read drawings and schematics, perform preventive maintenance, and support changeovers and line improvements.

Requirements include 5+ years of direct experience with PLCs and hardwired relay logic, metal fabrication preferred, and strong analytical skills to interpret electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of direct experience with troubleshooting and maintaining high-speed packaging equipment.
• Experience with PLCs and hardwired relay logic systems.
• Metal fabrication experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair high-speed bottling and thermoforming packaging equipment.
• Perform changeovers according to production schedule.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on packaging and related equipment.
• Create and track work orders in the CMMS for repairs or adjustments.
• Initiate purchase requisitions for required materials.
• Document work to meet GMP requirements and training records.
• Read machine drawings and electrical schematics to diagnose issues.
• Assist in corrective actions for equipment-related non-conformances.
• Develop line-improvement ideas to boost efficiency and lower labor.
• Complete modifications through Change Control program.

Job Description

Perform troubleshooting and repairs to both bottling and thermoforming equipment to support packaging operations.

Changeover packaging equipment as stipulated in the production schedule.

Performs preventive maintenance (PM) on packaging and support equipment.

Initiates work orders in the CMMS for repairs and/or adjustments to equipment that are performed.

Initiates handwritten purchase requisitions as required for materials needed for repair or consumed during the performance of their duties.

Complete all required documentation needed to maintain the GMP requirements associated with work order completion and training records.

Reads and interprets machine drawings and electrical schematics as needed to troubleshoot, repair and maintain the packaging equipment and their supporting equipment.

Assist in the creation of corrective actions for equipment related non-conformances.

Develop and implement line improvement ideas to increase line efficiencies and/or reduce labor.

Completes modifications to the packaging equipment approved through the Change Control program.

Qualifications

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent. Technical school or equivalent military experience is preferred.

Experience:

Qualified candidates should have 5+ years of direct experience troubleshooting and maintaining high-speed packaging equipment. Experience should include programmable logic controllers (PLC), hardwired relay logic systems. Metal fabrication is preferred but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Demonstrated expertise with troubleshooting and repair of high-speed packaging equipment. Excellent analytical skills and working knowledge of electrical, computer, pneumatic, and mechanical systems. Must read and comprehend mechanical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
