Job summary

Flagship Facility Services, Inc. in Tempe, AZ is seeking a Maintenance Technician III to manage hands-on building maintenance, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.

You will troubleshoot issues, service mechanical equipment, and support safety and compliance efforts across facilities. The ideal candidate has extensive trade experience, a strong focus on reliability, and the ability to coordinate or supervise external contractors when needed.

Qualifications

  • 7–10+ years related trade experience in a building-related trade.
  • Valid driver’s license and universal CFC certification.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with troubleshooting and repairs of building systems including plumbing, roofs, drains, process equipment and HVAC.
  • Clean, lubricate and service pumps, valves, pneumatic controls, electrical, mechanical and hydraulic devices.
  • Assist with installation and modification of building equipment systems.
  • Inspect and evaluate equipment; suggest improvements to maintenance operations and cost savings.
  • Respond to emergencies; ensure safety and compliance with codes and regulations.

Job Description

Essential Functions

  • Assists with troubleshooting and repairs of building and installed systems to include plumbing systems, roofs, drains process equipment as assigned, and HVAC.
  • Cleans, lubricates and services a wide variety of pumps, valves, pneumatic controls, electrical, mechanical and hydraulic devices.
  • Assists with installation and modification of building equipment systems.
  • Troubleshoots, evaluates and makes recommendations to upgrade maintenance operations and/or implement savings opportunities.
  • Possesses competent knowledge of the use and care of tools and equipment used in facility maintenance.
  • Responds immediately to emergency situations and customer concerns.
  • Inspects buildings, grounds and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions.
  • Inspects new installation for compliance with building codes and safety regulations.
  • Maintains and operates life safety/fire systems.
  • Performs carpentry and some sheet metal work.
  • Practices safe work habits at all times.
  • Complies with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and Company directives as related to building operations and practice safe work habits.
  • Prioritizes daily work scheduling for self and other technicians.
  • Assists with training and performance building of other technicians.
  • Coordinates or oversees the performance of work by third-party contractors.
  • May be only maintenance staff member on duty during certain shifts; may be required to work extended periods of time without relief when responding to priority/emergency situations (including overtime type assignments); may require shift work and/or on call duties.
  • Installation and modification of building equipment systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

Technical, vocational or on-the-job training in all of the following areas, with an emphasis on the first three: HVAC, electrical, mechanical, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing and carpentry, or similar combination of experience and education. Possesses and maintains a valid driver’s license and good driving record with periodic checks. Possesses and maintains a universal CFC certification. Proven record of providing excellent internal and external customer service. Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in maintenance work. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively.

Education and Work Experience

High School Diploma or GED equivalent. 7-10+ years related trade experience in a building-related trade. Work Environment

The work environment includes the following elements and exposures: Small-to-large office environment Safety glasses required while performing certain tasks Fast paced office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Exposed to a combination of normal office type environments and shop environments. Regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes and noise.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Constant use of hand when handling and fingering hand and power tools and, when handling small items such as screws, bolts, etc. Occasional keying, typing, and writing. Constant grasping, pushing, pulling, and rotating body. Frequent lifting and carrying objects more than 40 lbs. Item weighing over 40 lbs. must be carried by two (2) people. Constant reaching across, above, and outward in work area to fix equipment. Frequent pushing and pulling objects weighing over 40 lbs. Items weighing over 40 lbs. must be push/pull by two people or with appropriate machinery. Good or correctable vision is required to safely perform all duties. Occasional standing, walking, bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling, crawling, balancing and beck usage-flexing.
