Job summary

Westgate Resorts in Orlando is seeking an Engineering Technician III to perform advanced maintenance across multiple trades, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry. You will lead projects, read blueprints, and use HotSOS to manage work orders while ensuring guest service and safety.

Requirements include EPA HVAC certification, CPO, 3+ years in resort or facilities maintenance, and a valid driver’s license. Weekend flexibility may be required.

  • EPA Universal HVAC Certification required.
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering projects and maintenance across resort facilities.
  • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Perform advanced carpentry, drywall, painting, and flooring repairs.
  • Maintain pools, spas, and water features; manage water chemistry.
  • Read blueprints and manuals to complete repairs accurately.
  • Use maintenance software to manage work orders and daily tasks.
  • Assist with procurement and inventory for projects.
  • Uphold safety and communicate professionally with guests and team.

Job Description

As an Engineering Technician III, you will perform advanced maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repair work across multiple trade disciplines, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, appliances, and pool operations. This role requires strong technical knowledge, independent problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead projects while maintaining Westgate's high standards of quality and guest service.

What You'll Do as an Engineering Technician III:
  • Lead engineering projects, preventative maintenance, guest service requests, and resort improvement initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC, plumbing, electrical, appliance, and mechanical systems.
  • Perform advanced carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, tile, and finish repairs.
  • Maintain pools, spas, and water features, including equipment repairs and water chemistry.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and equipment specifications to complete repairs accurately.
  • Utilize maintenance management software (HotSOS and other applicable systems) to complete work orders and manage daily operations.
  • Assist with procurement, inventory management, and ensuring tools and materials are available for assigned projects.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, and other maintenance equipment while following all safety procedures.
  • Identify safety hazards, maintain compliance with company policies, and communicate professionally with guests, team members, and leadership.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Will Bring as an Engineering Technician III:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of hands‑on maintenance or skilled trades experience in a resort, hospitality, commercial, or facilities environment.
  • Universal EPA HVAC Certification required.
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Advanced knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, and general building maintenance.
  • Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and equipment manuals.
  • Strong communication, troubleshooting, and customer service skills.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, scaffolds, lifts, and other maintenance equipment while using appropriate PPE.
  • Ability to regularly lift, move, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and flexible schedules as needed.
  • Required to pass a background check, drug test, and provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
