Job summary

Balfour Beatty Communities is seeking a Maintenance Technician to maintain the physical condition of our communities and deliver world-class service to residents. You will diagnose issues, perform repairs, and handle resident requests in a timely manner, often coordinating with contractors and internal teams.

Qualified candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, 7+ years in maintenance (or 4 years with EPA 608), and diverse skills in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or carpentry.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years of maintenance experience with no certifications or 4 years’ experience with EPA 608 Universal required.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license with a safe driving record is required.

Responsibilities

• Oversees assets and supervises maintenance engineers and technicians; directs general upkeep of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and related systems.
• Ensures adherence to company safety and environmental policies.
• Delivers high resident satisfaction through professional interactions and timely service.
• Works rotating on-call schedule to provide 24/7 maintenance coverage.

What You'll Be Doing

• Oversees one or more assets and supervise general maintenance engineers and technicians. Usually also has specific property maintenance responsibilities, including, but not limited to general maintenance and orderliness of property HVAC, mechanical, electrical, utilities and lighting systems. Including inspections and repairs. Experience level to direct mechanics, technicians, and outside contractors on assigned projects. Controls inventory of parts and equipment. Coordinate all Maintenance related / contractor activities.
• Ensuring the successful execution of all company safety and environmental policies and procedures.
• Delivering the highest level of resident satisfaction through responsive, consistent, positive and professional interactions.
• Working a rotating on call schedule to have 24/7 maintenance coverage

Who We're Looking For

Qualified candidates will have:

• High school diploma or GED graduate level
• Minimum of 7 years of maintenance experience with no certifications or 4 years’ experience with EPA 608 Universal required.
• Approved designations or degree/license/certification(s) in at least one of the following

• HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Appliance Repair Certification or Carpentry.
• Demonstrated strong customer service skills
• Advanced knowledge in at least one of the following disciplines: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry.
• Ability to diagnose problems and implement repairs
• Ability to perform Quality Control on work and repairs completed
• Demonstrated ability to train on skill trades
• Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong time management skills.
• Ability to provide guidance and training to less senior technicians. Strong customer service skills.
• Required training for Maintenance Tech III completed within 15 months of hire/promotion date.
• Valid, state-issued driver’s license with a safe driving record is required.

Typical Physical Demands:

Regularly use hands to manipulate tools, machinery, equipment, supplies, and office equipment. Frequently stand, reach with hands and arms, climb ladders, balance, and stoop. Sit and stand to do clerical work. Regularly lift and move equipment and supplies up to 50-75 lbs.

Typical Work Conditions:

Work is performed in and outside a maintenance/machinery environment and in and outside residential properties. Employee frequently interacts directly with residents, maintenance, and communities’ staff during the workday.
