Job summary

Refresco is seeking a maintenance technician for our fast-paced manufacturing plant in Kansas. You will perform repair maintenance, line changeovers, and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems, ensuring food safety and production efficiency.

The role requires reading blueprints, GMP knowledge, forklift certification, and independent work with strong communication and data trend skills.

Qualifications

  • Must read, understand, and work with machinery blueprints and parts manuals.
  • Must be able to work without supervision.
  • Must obtain and maintain forklift certification.
  • Knowledge of GMPs.
  • Understanding of Food Safety Requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to GMPs and food safety policies and wear PPE.
  • Repair maintenance, preventive maintenance, and line changeovers.
  • Troubleshoot machinery (electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic).
  • Maintain production supporting equipment (glycol, RO, compressed air, lubrication, chemical distribution).
  • Communicate maintenance and production information across shifts.
  • Train other maintenance personnel and collaborate with teams to drive improvements.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Adhere to all health and safety policies/procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) while in the warehouse or production areas (including but not limited to hairnets/beard nets, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard toe and slip/oil resistant shoes, appropriate safety gloves, and seatbelts while operating forklifts).
  • Responsible to adhere to food quality and food safety as per the standard(s) provided by corporate, customer, and/or governing bodies (ex. SQF).
  • Report problems with the FSMS to responsible managerial employees to initiate corrective actions.
  • Ability to perform and complete repair maintenance, preventive maintenance, and line changeovers.
  • Able to troubleshoot machinery for malfunctions (electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, &pneumatic).
  • Able to perform maintenance on all production supporting equipment (i.e. glycol system, RO system, Compressed Air system, lubrication systems, chemical distribution systems).
  • Use innovative thinking when troubleshooting equipment in order to minimize production downtime, assure food safety, product quality and personnel safety.
  • Complete, document, and retrieve final approvals on all assigned work orders to include recording all utilized part numbers for inventory purposes.
  • Communicate effectively and completely all relevant maintenance and production related information from shift to relieving shift.
  • Assist in training other maintenance personnel.
  • Communicate with production during periods of downtime.
  • Work collaboratively with all adjacent teams to resolve issues rapidly and drive improvement.
Required Skills:
  • Knowledge of GMPs.
  • Understanding of Food Safety Requirements.
  • Must be able to read, understand, and work with machinery blueprints and parts manuals.
  • Work without supervision.
  • Must obtain and maintain forklift certification.
  • Decisive, pro-active, self-motivated, and assertive.

Education and Experience:
  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years previous maintenance experience in manufacturing preferred.
Working Conditions:
  • Work Schedule: Weekdays, weekends, afternoon, evening, and overnight may be required. Overtime scheduled as needed.
  • Work Environment: Operating in a fast-paced production plant with numerous moving parts. Noise levels require hearing protection, and temperatures can get very hot and/or relatively cold). The environment is structured and supervised.
Travel Requirements:
  • May be minimal travel required as needed for training.
