Job summary

GE Appliances is seeking a Tool, Die & Mold Technician in Decatur, AL. This role involves maintaining and repairing dies and tooling to ensure quality production in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

Job description

Position Summary

Tool, Die & Mold Technician – based in Decatur, AL. Work on the maintenance team under the Maintenance Manager in a high‑volume, fast‑paced manufacturing environment, performing repair and maintenance on dies and molds across several trades.

Compensation & Working Hours

• Starting pay: $38.32/hr + $1.50 shift differential
• All shifts available (including weekends and holidays)
• Sign‑on bonus up to $3,000 (time‑limited)
• Annual medical clearance for respirator usage required
• Forklift certification required (obtain and maintain)

Essential Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair dies and other tooling to produce quality parts
• Install, upgrade, calibrate, and troubleshoot equipment
• Perform TIG, MIG, and SMAW welding and hand‑work parts of dies
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical equipment and pumps
• Conduct preventive maintenance as required
• Complete shop records and use reporting/tracking systems following established procedures
• Operate motorized equipment safely and adjust manufacturing equipment for accuracy
• Work safely, aware of hazards, and safeguard those hazards
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the manager

Required Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Machine Technology – Tool & Die or a comparable trade, or journeyman certification with at least 3 years of related experience, or equivalent education and experience
• Minimum 1year of skilled‑trade experience (welding, millwright, electrical, injection molding, hydraulics, pneumatics, and HVAC)
• Ability to read and interpret detailed drawings and prints
• MIG, TIG, and SMAW (stick) welding certification required or ability to obtain
• Experience in tool and die mold repair with a strong mechanical background
• Experience running mills, lathes, and precision surface grinders
• Plastic injection molding equipment experience, progressive metal stamping, and pierce die experience
• Knowledge of valve gates and repair methods
• Proficiency with powered‑hand tools (air/electric guns) and vibratory tools/equipment
• Availability to work weekends and holidays as required

Additional Requirements

• Must be team‑oriented and work well with others
• Must be able to work any shift, including overtime, holidays, and weekends, and shift as needed
• Must attain annual medical clearance for respirator usage and clearance to all areas of the plant
• Work involves intermittent sitting or standing, frequent walking, occasional lifting up to 50lbs, pushing/pulling up to 35lbs, and manual dexterity tasks
• Exposure to moderate‑to‑loud noise levels, moving mechanical parts, wet/humid conditions, and possible chemical fumes
