Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking a Maintenance Technician II at our Houston site. The role covers installation, operation, maintenance, service and repair of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and structural systems to support production.

The candidate will monitor machine performance, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot issues and adjust as needed; shift times are 6:00AM–2:30PM with variability based on operations. Safety and quality come first.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or recognized equivalent.
• 1–3 years of related maintenance mechanic experience.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety rules for hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
• Install and repair electrical equipment including generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units and conduit systems; read blueprints and layouts.
• Use welding equipment (arc, acetylene) for layout and fixtures.
• Utilize electricians’ hand tools and testing equipment.
• Diagnose and fix faults in electrical systems; apply calculations for wiring loads.
• Perform inspections to ensure machinery produces quality products per specs.
• Follow preventive maintenance program and inspect equipment; take action as needed.
• Perform building repairs as required.
• Notify management about major repairs or lighting/heating/ventilation needs.
• Assist in training new maintenance staff and support team projects.

Job Description

Base pay rate is $26.50 - $34.50, depending upon experience

1st shift: 6:00AM - 2:30PM, hours may vary depending on operations

The Maintenance Technician II performs skilled work related to the installation, operation, maintenance, modification, service and repair of mechanical, electrical, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, and structural systems. They monitor machine performance, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot problems, and make necessary adjustments.

KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Understands and follows all safety rules and precautions necessary for working with hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical apparatus.
  
  

• Deals with complex factors and makes decisions based on conclusions and findings.
  
  

• Installs and repairs various electrical equipment, including generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units and conduit systems. Works with blueprints, drawings, layouts, verbal instructions and other specifications.
  
  

• Uses different welding equipment (arc, acetylene, brazing, flame cutting) For layout and fitting, including making jigs and fixtures.
  
  

• Utilizes electricians’ hand tools and measuring/ testing equipment.
  
  

• Diagnoses and corrects trouble in electrical systems or equipment, applying standard computations related to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment.
  
  

• Performs visual and mechanical inspections to maintain machinery to, ensure the production of finished quality products according to order specifications.
  
  

• Follows preventive maintenance program as established by the company and conducts regular equipment inspections taking preventive action when necessary.
  
  

• Performs minor and major repairs on buildings.
  
  

• Notifies management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating and ventilating equipment.
  
  

• Provides on-the-job direction to new maintenance mechanics and others assisting in maintenance work.
  
  

• Contributes to continuous improvement efforts in work area.
  
  

• May be assigned additional projects or duties as designated by Team Leader.
  
  

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or recognized equivalent.
  
  

• Minimum of (1-3) one to three years related work experience in a maintenance mechanic function, or equivalent related experience.
  
  

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Standing, walking, lifting 30 lbs. or more, pulling, pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, stooping, crouching, near acuity,

This is a position with the potential overtime. The shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours long depending on work orders for the day and season of the year.
