Job summary

Forsyth County (NC) is seeking a Maintenance Technician II to join the Facilities Operations Electrical/Electronic maintenance team. The role involves preventive and corrective maintenance across 40 county facilities, including lighting, breakers, alarm panels, and equipment inspection.

The candidate will assist other trades as needed, work from plans, and may support security-related areas. A high school diploma or GED and at least one year in the electrical trades are required.

Job description

Forsyth County's Department of General Services has an opening for Maintenance Technician II. This position holds a vital role within the Facilities Operations Electrical/Electronic maintenance team

This position provides essential preventive, corrective and general maintenance as well as preventative maintenance services across 40 Forsyth County facilities. Specific examples of work include, executing high-volume routine tasks including changing light bulbs, replacing ballasts and inspecting outlets, switches and breakers, diagnosing alarm panels. Occasionally, this position may help provide cross functional support to higher level trades and assisting with other trades (Plumbing, HVAC, General Construction) as needed.

Due to the diverse designs and functions of Forsyth County facilities, this position is consistently exposed to unique, creative problem-solving challenges. Work Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.

Maybe required to work afterhours to include a rotating on-call schedule.

A successful candidate should have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

• Ability to do a variety of skilled maintenance work.
• Considerable knowledge of the materials, tools and methods used in a electrical work.
• Working knowledge of one or more additional trades.
• Ability to work from plans and specifications.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to oversee the work of others.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees.

Heavy lifting at times, 50-100 lbs. occasionally and up to 20-50 lbs. routinely.

If asked to work in the LEDC, this position will work in close quarters with the inmate population of at times, with close supervision from security staff.

Graduation from high school or GED and at least one year of experience in the relevant building trade (Electrical).

A valid driver's license.

A higher education may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirements.

This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check.
