Job summary

Smithfield Foods in Tar Heel, NC is seeking a maintenance technician to manage repair of MHE, perform preventive maintenance, and troubleshoot electrical and lighting systems in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED with related experience, a willingness to work on a team, operate lifts, read work orders, and follow plans. A relocation package is available along with strong benefits and career growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 1+ years in industrial maintenance or 4 years in food manufacturing maintenance.
  • Vocational/technical diploma is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a team and follow instructions precisely.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, manuals, and drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain machinery, monitor trends, troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance.
  • Install and repair electrical and lighting issues, dock doors, and dock plates.
  • Perform PMs per manufacturer guidelines and timelines, including lubrication and adjustments.
  • Document time and materials in the CMMS and communicate effectively.
