Eaton’s IS AER FMC division is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician II - 1st Shift. The hourly rate for this position is $29.00 per hour. The hours for first shift are 5:30 am - 2:00 pm. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

What You’ll Do

PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position performs skilled journey-level work in the construction, maintenance and repair of electrical and electronic equipment, apparatus and fixtures used within an Aerospace/Industrial manufacturing site.

Essential Functions

  • Troubleshoots, repairs and maintains electrical distribution systems including electric motors, electric controls, fire alarms, and clock systems.
  • Installs, troubleshoots and repairs new equipment and systems, including all manufacturing/assembly equipment (CNC Mills, Lathes, Drills) and programmable lighting controls.
  • Ensures site fire alarms and emergency electrical systems are operational; performs certification testing on alarm systems.
  • Maintains electrical equipment to meet regulatory codes at the county, state and federal levels.
  • Monitors work done by outside contractors for adherence to National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements and reports back to Supervisor.
  • Demonstrates safe and proficient use of shop tools (both hand and power).
  • Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot PLC’s.
  • Proficient in testing electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  • Demonstrates mechanical knowledge.
  • Assists in the writing of specifications for repairs and new construction.
  • Performs work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures.
  • Performs rigging activities, safety-related functions and other miscellaneous electrical functions.
  • Safely utilizes a forklift and high lift.
  • Assists in the writing of specifications for repairs and new construction.
  • Complies with all safety requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment and operation of equipment in a safe and competent manner. Understands and meets all departmental safety objectives and goals. Keeps work-area clean, organized, and orderly per 5S standards.
  • Performs other work related duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours.

Minimum Education Required: High School/GED

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of or enrollment in a two-year technical training program in electrical repair and maintenance and three (3) years’ electrical and maintenance experience.
  • General knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations (Cal-OSHA, EPA, NFPA, NEC).

Skills - Position Criteria:

  • Principles of electronic theory as applied to electrical and electronic circuits, wiring and electrical equipment used in power generation.
  • Theory of operation and use of Programmable Logic Control (PLC) units and other computer based equipment.
  • Ability to install and troubleshoot PLC-based equipment.
  • Ability to work from blueprints, shop drawings, electrical schematics, and sketches.
  • Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Candidate must have a strong desire to be part of a start-up/high growth company in a fast-paced, results-oriented culture.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous work experience within the Aerospace Industry and/or Industrial Manufacturing Industry.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, squat, reach to or below shoulder level, lift, carry, push, pull, and use hands to handle and feel. The employee is frequently required to climb and reach above shoulder level. The employee is also required to exert 50 to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and / or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently and /or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly.
