GED or High School Diploma required. Associate Degree in Engineering, Mechanical or a related field is preferred.

Experience

1 year of working knowledge of mechanical tools, knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing systems, and mechanical systems is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

Valid driver's license is required.

Primary Job Duties

• Performs urgent corrective, routine, and requisitioned repairs of electrical, mechanical, plumbing systems, and other routine repairs as required.
• Locate items on blueprints, shop drawings, and sketches; read, interpret, and complete work orders, repair requests to understand equipment and perform repairs.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and minor repairs on buildings and equipment such as transportation lifts, washers, dryers, compressors, shop equipment, dishwashers, ovens, slicers, warmers, mixers, medical gas systems, and plant equipment.
• Diagnose system malfunctions on mechanical and electrical equipment; repair or replace defective parts as necessary.
• In winter, remove snow from walks/parking lots and spread salt/sand to prevent ice build‑up.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and materials as needed.
• Coordinate efforts and schedule work assignments and projects associated with properties under Mary Lanning Healthcare.
• Work with department co-workers and other employees, with above-average contact outside department or with customers or patients.
• Assist in maintaining Life Safety systems and signage process.
• Use and maintain plant tools and equipment; observe temperature, pressure, amperage readings; adjust controls to obtain specified operation; record readings on log sheet at intervals.
• Complete simple carpenter repairs, patch walls, and work associated with projects in the hospital and its properties.
• Attend and participate in departmental meetings/in‑services, Mary Lanning Healthcare quality improvement program, etc.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
