Job summary

Advanced Technology Services in Pontiac, IL, is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Technician to perform mid- to expert-level maintenance on plant equipment, locate root causes, and repair mechanical and electrical systems. The role includes sourcing parts, operating machining tools, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have an associate degree or equivalent experience, strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and fluid power systems, and CMMS

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree with a technical focus and 3 years of related experience in general industry or 5 years of related general industry experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required; related experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform mid- to expert-level break-fix and preventative maintenance; locate root causes, dismantle devices, repair parts, test performance.
  • Identify and source parts, supplies, and repair items as necessary.
  • Independently perform maintenance per industry standards.
  • Set up and operate machining operations (lathe, drill press, grinder) and other metalworking tools; welding as needed.
  • Comply with 5S and housekeeping standards.
  • Drive and participate in continuous improvement activities including processes, results and cost savings.
  • Update records and review CMMS history.
  • Troubleshoot and analyze control systems to resolve software, hardware, and configuration problems.
  • Utilize predictive maintenance technologies to collect equipment performance data.
  • Provide assistance to lower-level technicians and leadership to small teams; perform advanced functions as part of training.
  • Complete on-the-job and technical self-study programs for career development.
  • Follow all safety-related policies and guidelines; maintain situational awareness.

Responsibilities
  • Perform mid- to expert-level break-fix and preventative maintenance. This includes observing devices in operation to locate root causes, dismantling devices to access and remove defective parts, examining parts for imperfections, adjusting functional parts and control instruments, repairing or replacing defective parts, testing device performance, and conducting tests for electrical circuitry and mechanical systems; reconditioning and repairing machine tools.
  • Identify and source parts, supplies, and repair items as necessary.
  • Independently perform maintenance per industry standards.
  • Set up and operate multiple machining operations (e.g., lathe, drill press, grinder) and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts. May perform welding tasks as needed.
  • Comply with 5S and housekeeping standards.
  • Drive and participate in continuous improvement activities, including processes, results, and cost savings.
  • Update records and review CMMS history.
  • Troubleshoot and analyze control systems to resolve software, hardware, and configuration problems.
  • Utilize predictive maintenance technologies to collect equipment performance data.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Behaviors Required
  • High School Graduate or equivalent (GED).
  • Associate’s degree with a technical focus and 3 years of related experience in general industry; or 5 years of related experience in general industry or successful completion of the ATS Technician Progression Program.
  • Understanding of electrical, mechanical, fluid power, and control systems; ability to analyze problems and perform repairs.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools and specialized tools as appropriate.
  • May be required to travel.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with arms, and communicate. The employee may be required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in confined spaces. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds and may be exposed to outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and a loud factory environment. Hazardous materials or greasy/slippery floors may be present.
