Job summary

Apogee Enterprises Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician II for its Louisville, KY facility. The role supports overall equipment reliability across electrical, mechanical, preventive, and facility maintenance tasks.

Work hours are 3rd shift Monday through Thursday, 7pm-5:30am, 10hr/day. Candidates should have strong mechanical/electrical skills, blueprint reading ability, welding experience, and the ability to work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience.

• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Experience with welding (ARC, MIG & TIG) and fabrication.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with CMMS for work orders, PMs, breakdowns, and assets.
• Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
• Diagnoses malfunctions by listening and discussing operations with supervisors.
• Dismantles defective machines and installs repairs or parts.
• Maintains lubrication, shafts, gears, and bearings; electrical components.
• Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment.
• Sets up machine tools to repair or fabricate parts; operates welding equipment.
• Oversees EOS reports and daily work orders, responding to breakdowns.

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician II role supports overall equipment reliability while performing a combination of electrical, mechanical, preventive maintenance, and facility maintenance activities based on business needs. This position requires a safety-first mindset, reliable and timely service, high-quality workmanship, disciplined documentation, and flexibility across maintenance disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with CMMS maintenance system for workorders, PM's, breakdowns, along with machine assets, inventory, parts charges, and time logs.
• Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
• Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
• Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
• Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
• Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
• Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
• Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
• Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment.
• Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools.
• Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
• Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.
• Inspects and troubleshoots any production and building issues as needed.
• Oversees the detailed, daily End of Shift reports (EOS).
• Performs daily workorders, PM's, and responds to break downs from operations.
• Patiently corrects and coaches anyone practicing unsafe work habits into working safely while using the correct PPE.

Personal Attributes and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent GED required.
• 3+ years of experience or technical degree in related field and 3+ years of experience as industrial maintenance mechanic.
• Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Lathe and mill experience helpful.
• General fabrication skills such as welding (ARC, MIG & TIG), torch, cutting equipment, grinders, and able to follow blueprints.
• Able to obtain and maintain current license for powered industrial equipment as needed.
• Able to perform basic plumbing installation and repairs.
• Able to use mechanical measuring devices and complex testing equipment.
• Able to apply general mechanical knowledge/abilities with ability to troubleshoot.
• Willingness to work overtime as business needs dictate.

Work Environment

Work is performed primarily in an industrial manufacturing environment and throughout facility areas. The employee may work near moving machinery, energized equipment, elevated work areas, and other production hazards. Noise levels may be loud, and required personal protective equipment must be worn. Computer work is also required for planning, documentation, and communication. This position requires personnel to:

• Regularly stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to handle tools, equipment, and controls.
• Occasionally sit for planning, documentation, and computer work.
• Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and use team lifting or mechanical assistance for heavier items in accordance with company policy.
• Have close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision sufficient to perform the work safely, including the ability to adjust focus.
• Work from ladders or lifts and in tight or awkward spaces when properly trained, authorized, and equipped.
• Maintain reliable attendance and respond to urgent maintenance needs as required by the assigned schedule.
