Related Affordable Housing is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Technician II for a 190-unit, multi-family affordable community, Montgomery Gateway, in Jersey City, NJ. You’ll perform plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry tasks to keep buildings safe, functional, and inviting while supporting residents with responsive service.

You will work with a dedicated team, have opportunities for skill development, and participate in a rotating on‑call schedule for emergency repairs.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in general maintenance or related field.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems.
• Willingness to participate in emergency on-call rotation as needed.
• Able to lift and move up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Complete service requests and interact with residents to meet needs.
• Prepare vacant units to occupancy standards within set time frames.
• Inspect mechanical systems and grounds; address safety issues promptly.
• Perform advanced routine maintenance including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs.
• Maintain common areas and grounds; train/mentor junior staff as needed.
• Assist in emergencies and rotate on-call for maintenance.

You’ll perform a variety of maintenance tasks, from plumbing and electrical repairs to HVAC and carpentry work, all while upholding our high standards for quality and safety.

Essential Job Functions

• Complete service requests in a timely manner and interact with residents to ensure their needs are met.
• Prepare vacant units to occupancy standards within established time frames.
• Inspect property mechanical systems and grounds, addressing safety issues immediately with management.
• Conduct advanced routine maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs.
• Perform cleaning and upkeep of common areas and grounds.
• Train and mentor junior maintenance staff as needed.
• Inspect property and address maintenance concerns proactively.
• Assist in emergency repairs as directed by supervisors and rotate on‑call for emergency maintenance.
• Maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies and report any shortages.
• Other duties as assigned.

Anticipated Salary Range

• $32.00-$33.30 /hr.
• Annual Performance Bonus
• This position is Non‑Exempt, meaning eligible for overtime pay

This range is provided as a general guideline and reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary depending on a variety of factors, including the candidate’s qualifications, geographical location, and the specific responsibilities of the role. In addition to salary, this position may be eligible for performance bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.

Final compensation offers will be determined following a thorough assessment of the candidate’s background and the requirements of the position.
