Job summary

Novo Nordisk in Durham, NC seeks a Maintenance Technician II to improve reliability and reduce downtime on assigned processes, supporting our manufacturing lines. Responsibilities include following safety rules, developing maintenance plans, performing corrective and preventive maintenance, and documenting activities in SAP while collaborating with process owners to boost performance.

Qualifications: Associate degree or equivalent, five years in manufacturing, three years in regulated solid dose

  • Five years of manufacturing experience required.
  • Three years in regulated solid dose manufacturing environment required.
  • Experience in equipment troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
  • Maintenance Technician II JQR completed and promotion board approval.

Responsibilities

  • Follow safety and environmental requirements during duties.
  • Develop and establish maintenance procedures and spare parts lists.
  • Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on assigned processes.
  • Document activities in SAP and ensure accuracy.
  • Collaborate with process owners to improve performance and reliability.
  • Train fellow technicians and support system-wide capabilities.

The Position

Improve systems & equipment reliability on assigned process, reduce system/equipment downtime on assigned process & support operation of assigned process.

Relationships

Reports to Senior Project Manager – OFP.

Essential Functions
  • Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures in performance of assigned duties
  • Support the development & establishment of maintenance procedures, maintenance plans & spare parts lists for processes assigned
  • Perform corrective & preventative maintenance on assigned process in a timely manner
  • Ability to interpret mechanical & electrical specifications, drawings & other technical data sheets
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, night shifts, extended shifts and/or weekends
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are correctly documented in SAP
  • Partner with process owners to actively improve performance & reliability of process equipment
  • Contribute to growth & development of the maintenance team by training fellow technicians in areas of expertise, as well as learning new systems
  • Use Systematic Problem Solving (SPS) tools to establish Root Cause Analysis & resolve equipment issues
  • Suggest practical changes or improvements to equipment & department work practices
  • Collaborate with Responsible Engineers & Manufacturing personnel to troubleshoot equipment problems
  • Other accountabilities, as assigned.
Physical Requirements

Moves equipment &/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions. Routinely operates & inspects manufacturing equipment using hands. Ability to be on feet for up to a 12-hour shift. May require corrected vision to 20/25 based on role. May require colour vision based on role. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. May be required to work at elevated heights. Occasionally works around odorous &/or hazardous materials. May be required to wear latex gloves. Occasionally performs critical job functions in extremely cold work environments. Occasionally positions oneself within confined spaces for inspection, repair & maintenance of equipment. Ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protection. Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions. Able to pass a driving exam for powered industrial trucks. Does not require a valid driver’s license.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree in relevant field or equivalent military/industry training, which includes a thorough understanding of mechanical, electrical & control systems required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing industry required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of regulated industry & solid dose manufacturing experience required
  • Demonstrated experience in executing equipment troubleshooting, preventative and predictive maintenance required
  • Successful completion of Maintenance Technician II Job Qualification Requirements (JQR) & promotion board approval required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to train new hires on maintenance processes & technical documentation (SOPs & PMs, SAP) preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in three (3) or more of processes listed in the Process Alignment section above preferred
  • perience in planning/organizing work, managing execution, checking results & revising the work plan in accordance with the daily work plan a plus
