Job summary

QVC Group in Bethlehem, PA is seeking a Facilities Mechanic II to perform repairs and preventative maintenance on conveyors, PIT equipment, and building systems in our fulfillment center. On-site role with safety-focused 5S practices and strict adherence to lockout/tagout procedures.

You will read technical manuals, work with blueprints, and handle mechanical/electrical repairs in a fast-paced environment. On-call availability, night/weekend shifts, and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent; industrial mechanic training or certification.
  • 6 months to 3 years of mechanical and electrical systems experience in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Ability to be on call, work days/nights, weekends and overtime.
  • Familiar with voltage meters and AC/DC systems.
  • Able to read and comprehend technical manuals; read blueprints and engineering specs.

Responsibilities

  • Building Maintenance - general facility repairs including plumbing, electrical, lighting, painting, HVAC, and wall repair.
  • Repair dock doors/locks/plates to keep operations running.
  • Escort and assist external vendors.
  • Preventive and planned/unplanned maintenance on production equipment, PITs, and building systems.
  • Identify and fix safety hazards and potential issues before they become critical.
  • Support repairs during unscheduled breakdowns.
  • Maintain conveyors, automation, and sortation systems to ensure continued operation.
  • Follow lockout/tagout procedures and safety protocols.
  • Maintain area cleanliness and inventory as part of 5S practices.

Your Opportunity, Your Team

The purpose of a Facilities Mechanic II position is to perform basic tasks and repairs within the fulfillment center including work on conveyors, PIT equipment, and general building maintenance. This requires a basic understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.

Where You'll Work

This role is onsite and will require you to work from our Bethlehem, PA daily. Relocation assistance is not available for this role.

What You'll Do
  • Building Maintenance - Perform and/or facilitate general facility repairs such as plumbing, electrical, lighting, painting, HVAC, and wall repair.
  • Perform repairs on dock doors, dock locks, and dock plates to resolve problems and ensure successful operation.
  • Escort and assist outside vendors.
  • Equipment Maintenance - Perform planned and unplanned repairs, and preventative maintenance to production-related equipment, Powered Industrial Trucks, and building equipment.
  • Identify and correct safety hazards and potential maintenance issues before they become critical.
  • Help with repairs when unscheduled breakdowns occur.
  • Conveyor, Automation and Sorter Systems - Support and perform planned and unplanned repairs and preventative maintenance to maintain operation of conveyors and sorter equipment.
  • Help with conveyor, automation and sortation system repairs.
  • Electrical - Have a fundamental understanding of AC and DC systems and how to use a voltage meter. Will follow lock out/tag out policy.
  • Safety / Facility Cleanliness - Practice and be a leader in 5S and safety procedures to ensure that the area is safe, organized, and clean. Maintain complete inventory and cleaning of all equipment and work areas daily. Identify and act immediately to correct any safety hazards, spills., to avoid the risk of accident, and elevate issues.
  • Other responsibilities, and activities as assigned. To ensure all requests are completed in a safe.
What You'll Bring
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals.
  • Familiarity with blueprints, and engineering specifications
  • High School graduate or equivalent; Industrial mechanic trade school courses or certification (i.e., electrical, controls, plumbing, welding) or equivalent military technical training.
  • 6 months - 3 years' experience with mechanical and electrical systems in a fast-paced production environment
  • Ability to be on call, work days or nights, weekends and overtime
  • Prefer working knowledge of voltage meter and AC/DC systems
