Job summary

PKM Steel Service, Inc. is hiring a Maintenance Technician I to join our maintenance team in Salina, KS. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, routine repairs, inspections, and basic troubleshooting of industrial production equipment.

This entry/developmental position is intended for an individual with mechanical aptitude and a desire to build a career in industrial maintenance. You will gain hands-on experience and training to advance within the maintenance organization.

Qualifications

• Qualified by education and/or experience.
• Minimum of six (6) months experience in mechanical, industrial, agricultural, automotive, welding, or maintenance experience.
• Basic electrical experience.
• Welding or fabrication experience.
• Experience with hydraulic or pneumatic systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on production equipment.
• Inspect equipment for wear, damage, leaks, and abnormal operating conditions.
• Perform routine mechanical repairs and component replacement.
• Replace bearings, belts, chains, sprockets, rollers, motors, and other components.
• Assist with hydraulic and pneumatic repairs.
• Perform basic welding and fabrication.
• Assist with electrical troubleshooting and component replacement.
• Use a multimeter for basic electrical testing after receiving appropriate training.
• Read and follow basic mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and assist higher-level technicians with troubleshooting.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and PM documentation.
• Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout.
• Maintain a clean and organized maintenance area.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions
