Job summary

Mennel Milling Company seeks an technician to support production, quality and warehouse by keeping plant equipment reliable and maintained. You will help sustain safety standards and ensure consistent quality, service, and uptime.

The role requires working a 10-hour shift with possible weekends and holidays, and participation in ongoing training to stay current with technology and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Able to work at heights and perform overhead tasks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot with meters and electrical knowledge.
  • Welding (MIG/TIG) proficiency required.
  • Familiarity with CMMS and machine shop equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Follow safety rules (GMP/OSHA/HACCP) and keep audit-ready.
  • Repair and maintain bearings, seals, lubrication systems, and machine controls.
  • Transfer knowledge to operators for basic adjustments and repairs.
  • Report KPI results and participate in required training.
  • Continuously upgrade technical skills and stay current with technology.

JOB SUMMARY:

In this role, you will help sustain Mennel’s tradition of excellence established in 1886 as well as support our food safety programs and mission to reliably deliver superior quality, uniformity, and service. The purpose of this position is to support production, quality and warehouse through maintaining and improving the on-going reliability of the plant equipment and machinery. This position will sustain the Mission and Motto and Food Safety and Quality Statement of the Mennel Milling Company.

PRIMARY WORK SHIFT:

Works shift as assigned and overtime as required.

This position works a 10-hour schedule that rotates days of the week. You must be able to work weekends (every other) and potentially some holidays.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without accommodation.

  • Follow all food and personal safety rules and regulations in respect to GMP’s, OSHA, HACCP, the Global Food Safety Initiative, the US FDA Food Safety Modernization Act as stated in the FS&Q Statement, and sanitation guidelines as set forth by the company as listed in Corporate Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) and attend all required training sessions. Maintain the department/facility in an everyday audit ready condition.
  • Responsible torepair andmaintainbearings, seals, lubrication systems, machine alignment, machinecontrolsand other complex systems.
  • Responsible to transfer the aboveknowledge into complex packaging and processing equipment.
  • Responsibleto pass along knowledge to operatorsregardingbasic mechanical adjustments and repairs.
  • Accountable to know, understand and report KPI’s.
  • Attend all training sessions asrequired.
  • Continuously upgrade skills and knowledge to remain current with the latest technology.
  • Report any unsafe conditions or actions to company supervisionimmediately.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no supervisory duties.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job.

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent required;
  • Must be able to work in high places and complete overhead work.
  • Must be able todemonstratetheability to use troubleshooting tools to include multi-meter and current meter.
  • Must be able toweld including resistance, MIG and TIG welding.
  • Basic electrical skills,troubleshooting basic motor control circuits and understanding electrical safetypreferred.
  • Familiarity with CMMS andmachine shop equipment as well as the ability to accurately design, develop,documentand fabricate machine parts.
  • Must have solid interpersonal skills with the ability to listen well, and work in a team environment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, procedures, and plans. Ability to write, complete checklists and other basic documentation and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information or data in one-on-one and small group situations to co-workers, supervisors, and managers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY:

Must use solid judgment when making decisions. Must have ability to quickly recognize and plan for changing work duties and events.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to perform maintenance tasks, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to conditions that are typical to a fast- paced manufacturing environment, including: moving equipment and machinery, dusty, hot/humid, and cold conditions; employee must be willing to work in all weather conditions, at heights, and in the presence of airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment usually requires the use of hearing protection. Work involves exposure to common wheat allergens.
