Job summary

Hotel Equities is hiring a Maintenance Technician I for the Holiday Inn Central in Washington DC. The role focuses on safe, efficient operations and preventative maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and related systems.

You will perform routine tasks, respond to guest requests, supervise vendors, and help keep the property compliant with safety standards. The ideal candidate has a HS diploma and 1 year hotel maintenance experience.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of related hotel maintenance experience.
  • Experience with an IHG property is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on hotel rooms, equipment, fixtures, and systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.).
  • Respond promptly to guest and team member maintenance requests.
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify safety hazards or maintenance needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs.
  • Ensure tools, equipment, and work areas are clean, organized, and safe.
  • Support energy conservation and sustainability initiatives.
  • Follow safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Assist with seasonal tasks (snow removal, landscaping, or pool maintenance).
  • Communicate with GM/AM about building conditions and cost-effective improvements.
  • Supervise external contractors when employed.

The Holiday Inn Washington DC-Central/White House is currently searching for an experienced hotel Maintenance Technician for our Logan Circle Neighborhood property in Washington DC.

Job Purpose:

The Maintenance Technician ensures the safe, efficient, and well-maintained operation of hotel facilities by performing routine and preventative maintenance, addressing guest and team member requests, and supporting the overall upkeep of mechanical, electrical, and structural systems.

Perform routine and preventative maintenance on hotel rooms, equipment, fixtures, and systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.).

Respond promptly to guest and team member maintenance requests with professionalism and urgency.

Troubleshootandrepairmalfunctionsinguestrooms,publicspaces,andback-of-houseareas.

Conductregularinspectionstoidentifyandresolvepotentialsafetyhazardsormaintenanceneeds.

Maintainaccuraterecordsofworkperformedandmaterialsused.

Collaboratewithexternalvendorsandcontractorsasneededforspecializedrepairs.

Assist with seasonal tasks such as snow removal, landscaping, or pool maintenance as needed.

Ensure customer satisfaction at all times, modeling and adhering to the Guest Service Standards

Ensure compliance with all company, state, local and federal policies/guidelines pertaining to the maintenance of a clean, safe environment for associates, guests and vendors.

Ensure proper operations of the hotel’s equipment and systems, to include life safety, telecommunications, key control, HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, power plant, pool, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment and any other related systems and equipment.

Ensure maintenance request orders are handled in a prompt and courteous manner including logging and follow up.

Communicate with Assistant General Manager, OM and/or General Manager on a regular basis regarding the specific and overall condition of the building structure(s), related systems, and equipment offering prudent, cost effective proposals for maintaining these systems.

Supervise any external contractors who may be employed by the hotel to carry out maintenance work.

  • Adheres to all work rules, procedures and policies established by the company

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High School diploma /Secondary qualification or equivalent.
  • One year of related hotel maintenance experience

This job requires the ability to perform the following:

  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
  • Most tasks are performed in a team environment with the associate acting as a team leader. There is minimal direct supervision.
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must possess basic computational ability.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of computer accounting programs, math skills as well as budgetary analysis capabilities required.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of all types of mechanical equipment such as chillers, boilers, water softeners, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems, maintenance of records of power, water and fuel consumption.
  • Must have experience in office procedures, ordering materials, securing bids and of city codes and other applicable laws, building construction, blueprint reading, etc.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state and local laws governing equal employment opportunity and civil rights, occupational safety and health, wage and hour issues, and labor relations, including, but not limited to the following statutes and their comparable state and local laws (where applicable): Title VII, Equal Pay Act, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, FLSA, ADA, OSHA, FMLA, NLRA
