Job summary

Hispanic Housing Development Corporation (HHDC) in Elgin, IL seeks an entry-level Maintenance Technician I to join our team at one of our apartment communities. This full-time role involves keeping exteriors, common areas, and vacant units in good condition, with on-call responsibilities for emergencies.

The candidate should be dependable, customer-service oriented, and committed to safety. Basic plumbing/electrical experience is helpful; owning tools is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent, plus maintenance experience.
• Be dependable and customer-service oriented.
• Basic plumbing and electrical experience, with safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and general upkeep of apartment homes and community buildings.
• Assist with unit turns and prepare vacant apartments for new residents.
• Respond to resident maintenance requests with professional, courteous service.
• Assist with heating, cooling, and basic building systems maintenance, reporting major issues.
• Maintain cleanliness and appearance of common areas, exteriors, sidewalks, and grounds.
• Respond to emergency maintenance calls as part of on-call rotation.
