Volunteers of America Southwest is seeking a Maintenance I at Palomar Apartments in Chula Vista, CA. The role involves performing preventive and corrective maintenance across the property under supervision, addressing resident work orders, and keeping common areas clean and safe.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience in general maintenance including heating, electrical and plumbing equipment, and interior/exterior painting and carpentry.
• Must be able to communicate effectively; bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs for different projects.
• Emergency maintenance availability, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Enter occupied apartments to perform work orders.
• Perform daily cleaning of property, clubhouse and units.
• Make-ready/vacant units: repair and clean appliances, windows, floors and fixtures.
• Inspect grounds, buildings, plumbing, electrical fixtures, appliances and major equipment.
• Maintain painting equipment and supplies to keep the property looking its best.
• Advise supervisor on work in progress and inventory of tools and supplies.
• Grounds maintenance as requested (mowing, fertilizing, watering).
• Follow safety procedures and respond to emergencies.
• Assist with other projects as assigned by Community Administrator.
