Job summary

Andersen Corporation in Garland, TX is seeking a driven maintenance trainee for 2nd shift (3pm-11pm, Mon-Fri; some Saturdays). You will train on the 1st shift for 30–60 days while developing multi-skilled maintenance abilities in a technical role with ongoing education in a trade.

You will focus on safety, quality, and customer service, learn electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, and participate in TPM initiatives as you grow within a company that offers a comprehensive Total

• LOTO Trained and Deviation Permit Process.
• Understand basic concepts of electricity including voltage, current and resistance.
• Operate a volt-ohm-millimeters (VOM) and non-contact voltage testers to test for energized circuits.
• Understand basics of electrical machine controls.
• Understand mechanical fastener types and installation procedures.
• Handle, dispense and apply lubricants; understand properties, storage and handling.
• Understand hydraulic valve configuration and components.
• Understand pneumatic valve configuration and components.
• Weld, braze, solder and cut metal.
• Understand basic blueprints—scales, symbols and dimensions.
• Select and install various types of fasteners.
• Understand TPM initiatives and safety.
• Adaptable to dangerous environments, heavy equipment, and varying climates.

Shift:

• This position is for 2nd Shift: 3pm-11pm Monday- Friday, some Saturday’s will be mandatory.
• You will train on the 1st shift which starts at 7am for approximately the first 30-60 days.

MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:

• LOTO Trained and Deviation Permit Process
• Understand basic concepts of electricity including voltage, current and resistance
• Understand and operate a volt-ohm-millimeters (VOM) and non-contact voltage testers to properly test for energized electrical circuits.
• Understand the basics of electrical machine controls
• Understand mechanical fastener types, application and installation procedures.
• Handle, dispense and apply various types of lubricants. Understands types, properties storage, handling and application of basic lubricants and the use of typical lubricant charts.
• Understand hydraulic valve configuration, operations and components.
• Understand pneumatic valve configuration, operation and component.
• Weld, braze, solder and cut metal
• Understand basic components of blueprints including scales, symbols and dimensions
• Understand mechanical fastener types, application and installation procedures. Select and install various types of fasteners
• Handle, dispense and apply various types of lubricants
• Understand types, properties, storage, handling and application of basic lubricants, and the use of typical lubricant charts
• Understand basic machine shop skills and machine safety
• Understand and participate in TPM initiatives.
• Must be adaptable to working in dangerous situations (vaults, scaffolding), heavy equipment, and in all climates
• Transport and safely store oxygen and acetylene cylinders
• Use block and tackle, chain hoists, slings, levelers, come-alongs, jacks, and winches to lift or move equipment
• Inspect heavy lifting hardware and cranes, and help perform heavy lifting jobs

NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:

• Use block and tackle, chain hoists, slings, levelers, come-alongs, jacks and winches to lift or move equipment
• Understands basic machine shop skills and machine safety
• Understand and participate in TPM initiatives

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS SUMMARY

• Must be able to stand for 8 hours
• Must be able to occasionally lift 100 lbs.
• Some heavy lifting required to replace motors, pumps, extruder screws, etc. at low frequency. Equipment is provided to move/manipulate heavy components
• Requires repetitive action such as simple starting, grasping, firm grasping and fine manipulating.

• High work form, ladders and platforms
• Working in confined space conditions
• Handling hazardous waste wearing the appropriate PPE
• Working near energized electric circuits
• Working near/on hot equipment/materials

PAY RANGE:

$24.10 - $34.85

PROFIT SHARING:

In 2026 Andersen has set a profit-sharing target of $3,600 per eligible employee, prorated as appropriate. Profit Sharing will be paid out in quarterly installments to provide eligible employees with payments throughout the year, with payment amounts tied to quarterly operating profit performance.
