Summary

Join our team as a Level I Maintenance Technician. You will collaborate with a dedicated and diverse team to support safe and smooth plant operations by continuously improving our machinery and maintenance reliability. You will also have an opportunity to grow in your role and learn on the job while you receive additional maintenance certifications and training. Associates in the Maintenance Tech I classification receive on-the-job training and experience in industrial maintenance.

Schedule: (6am-6pm, Thursday-Saturday, every other Wednesday)

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Must be able to demonstrate/achieve and maintain Maintenance Tech I proficiency within 10 months of hire.
  • Assists with maintaining equipment, troubleshooting issues, and performing routine inspections.
  • Performs basic troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • May assist in managing the machines’ performance by doing equipment set up and production changeovers
  • Responds to equipment breakdowns in a timely manner. Maintains work records and prepare clear and concise oral and written reports.
  • Understands and follows all safety standards and quality protocols to ensure production exceeds the standards.
  • Collaborates well with production associates to solve problems with reliability and urgency
  • Recognizes and report unusual, inefficient, or dangerous mechanical and electrical situations
  • Utilize appropriate safety precautions, methods, and apparatus to minimize and withstand exposure to chemicals, dust, and mechanical and electrical hazards. Learns and observe all safety precautions as required by Perdue
  • Works all required work schedules. Day travel to nearby locations sometimes required.
Minimum Education
  • High School Diploma or GED and Equivalent Experience.

Experience Requirements
  • 0-3 Years experience in Industrial maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on Mechanical and Electrical Equipment, and/or Equivalent Military Experience.

  • Beginner proficiency in Hydraulics, Mechanics, Electrical, Welding and Rigging.

  • Commitment to Continuous Learning to achieve increasing levels of expertise.

  • Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
  • Position is active. On the plant floor activities such as troubleshooting and re-design of existing systems are routine.

  • May need to move equipment occasionally.

  • May need to access files, supplies and equipment.

  • Position requires an associate to have the ability to move throughout the complex and all facilities. .

  • When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces. May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity. May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db. May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility. Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
