Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking a Maintenance Technician I for the 1st shift in San Antonio, TX. This entry-level role supports routine maintenance on production equipment, performs basic troubleshooting, and assists with preventive maintenance to keep lines running smoothly.

Ideal candidates have hands-on maintenance experience, familiarity with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and the ability to read schematics. Overtime may apply; 6:00am–2:30pm shift.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of hands-on maintenance experience in manufacturing, operations, or similar setting.
• Experience with basic mechanical and electrical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and conveyors.
• Familiarity with reading mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment and facilities as scheduled.
• Respond to service requests and work orders with limited supervision while maintaining production.
• Assist with lubrication, cleaning, and basic building maintenance tasks.

Continuous Improvement cards**What you will have:*** Minimum of 2 years of related hands-on maintenance experience, in a manufacturing, operations, or high-volume facility, or possess a relevant certification or degree in lieu of experience* Experience using hand tools, power tools, and basic maintenance tasks like lubrication, cleaning, and inspections* Familiar mechanical knowledge of basic machines (pulleys, levers, etc.), pneumatics, hydraulics, gears, reducers, bearings, lubrication theory, drive components (sheaves, sprockets, chain belts, take-ups), and equipment alignment.* Must be familiar with electronics such as photo sensors, PLCs, remote I/Os, servo drives, and variable frequency drives**What would make you a top candidate:*** Familiar with AC/DC theory, relays, switches, solenoids, fuses, breakers, power generation and distribution (including 480V 3-phase), electrical safety, lockout/tagout procedures, National Electric Code, digital multimeter operation, and motor theory and protection* Familiar with PM procedures, including performing PMs, logging completion, etc.* Familiar with production facility’s systems, including conveyors, robotic equipment, and (ASRS, AKL, and Auto Guided Vehicles (AGVs))* Familiar with reading and understand mechanical and building blueprints as well as electrical schematics**Physical Requirements:*** Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time* Ability to perform repetitive operations* Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.*We are committed to ensuring a supportive and accommodating work environment for all employees.
