The organization consists of a standalone fifty-five (55) )-bed hospital and six outlying outpatient facilities that have anywhere from fourteen (14) beds to one hundred and thirty-four (134) beds. The organization has approximately four hundred (400) employees.SUMMARY OF POSITIONThe Maintenance Technician I is responsible for building maintenance. Knowledge of regulatory codes and standards. Duties may include/involve plumbing, carpentry, basic electrical, painting and general building upkeep.ESSENTIALS DUTIESKnowledge of regulatory policies and/or codes relating to engineering and environment of care responsibilitiesAssists Director and/or Supervisor with orientation of new engineering employees and organization wide orientationMaintains operational knowledge of building and safety and security systemsKeeps abreast of organizational wide programs which may impact on maintenance work schedules and/or projectsDrives to purchase and pick up materials and supplies as needed in a timely mannerCompletes lock repairs and key duplication as required, including documentationPerforms routine building inspections as required or assignedCompletes documentation of routine inspections as required by engineering procedures on a timely basisCompletes data entry of work orders/requests in a timely mannerGives clear, concise information to supervisor and co-workers on projects and maintenance requestsPerforms quality repairs, refinishing, modifications to doors, walls, ceilings, windows floorsPerforms quality repairs to or modifications to electrical systemsPerforms quality repairs to or modifications to plumbing systemsPerforms and/or assists in preventative maintenance and troubleshooting problems on HVAC or refrigeration systemsDemonstrates ability to operate emergency generator for emergency startup or testing; including generator documentation requirementsUnderstand the basic functions of building/maintenance tradesAbility to ascertain information from plumbing, mechanical and electrical blueprintsUnderstand the maintenance requirements for facility equipmentUnderstand the basic elements of the AOA Environment of Care and Life Safety Code standardsOther duties as assignedEXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONSAbility to perform and document routine inspectionsAbility to perform repairs, maintenance, or modifications to floors, doors, walls and ceilingsAbility to perform basic repairs, maintenance, or modifications to electrical and lighting systemsAbility to perform repairs, maintenance, or modifications to plumbing systemsAbility to operate emergency generator testing and documentationHospital maintenance experience. General knowledge of basic building and safety codesOne (1) - Three (3) years successful experience in Multi-trade building maintenance of commercial buildingsMaintenance experience in similar or commercial settingsEDUCATION & CERTIFICATESHigh School DiplomaBuilding Trade technical training through a trade school or college or demonstrable skills in building maintenanceREQUIREMENTSMust pass Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and Community Care Licensing (CCL) background clearance.Valid California Driver’s license.TB clearance.Driving record acceptable for coverage by Gateways insurance carrier.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSTo perform this job you must be able to carry out all essential functions successfully.
