Job summary

Gateways Hospital & Mental Health Center in Los Angeles is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to perform building maintenance across a multi-site campus. You will handle routine inspections, repairs to electrical, plumbing, doors, and HVAC, and support safety and environmental care programs.

The role requires 1–3 years of experience in commercial maintenance, a high school diploma, and the ability to read blueprints and operate a generator. This is a non-exempt, full-time position with benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma; trade training preferred.
• 1–3 years in multi-trade commercial building maintenance.
• Experience with electrical, plumbing, doors/windows/ceilings repairs.
• Knowledge of safety codes and Environment of Care standards.
• Background clearance required (DOJ, FBI, CCL).
• Valid California driver license; TB clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections of building components and safety systems.
• Repair/modify electrical, plumbing, doors, walls, ceilings as needed.
• Maintain HVAC/refrigeration systems and document work.
• Operate emergency generator and complete testing/documentation.
• Process work orders and communicate with supervisor and team.
• Assist with life-safety compliance and safety programs.

Title of Position:Maintenance TechnicianLocation:Gateways Hospital - Facilities ManagementExempt/Non-Exempt:Non-ExemptUnion/ Non-Union:Non-UnionSupervisor:Director of Facility ManagementGateways Hospital and Mental Health Center, located in Los Angeles, is a non-profit organization that provides an array of comprehensive mental health services for Children, Adolescents, Transitional Aged Youth, and Adults suffering from mental illness in the Greater Los Angeles area. The organization consists of a standalone fifty-five (55) )-bed hospital and six outlying outpatient facilities that have anywhere from fourteen (14) beds to one hundred and thirty-four (134) beds. The organization has approximately four hundred (400) employees.SUMMARY OF POSITIONThe Maintenance Technician I is responsible for building maintenance. Knowledge of regulatory codes and standards.
