Qualifications

  • Assist and train lower-level technicians and support small teams.
  • Operate multiple machining tools to make or repair parts.
  • Troubleshoot 480V systems including PLCs and drives.

Job description

Overview

Maintenance Technician I (Job Code ENM001) – Ennis, TX. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and reconditioning machinery and facility equipment. Work from diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer specifications to diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues. The role requires working with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and reliability.

Responsibilities
  • Perform self-directed reactive and planned maintenance, including locating root causes, dismantling devices, replacing defective parts, testing, and reconditioning machine tools.
  • Perform simple welding tasks and order supplies and repair items as necessary.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot machine failures; collaborate with planner/scheduler and act as a project champion.
  • Layout, wire, build, and troubleshoot electrical panels and other machinery to NFPA/NEC standards.
  • Maintain grounds and building exterior; perform routine electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and HVAC repairs as needed.
  • Provide assistance to lower-level technicians and leadership to small teams; participate in training and development.
  • Set up and operate multiple machining operations (e.g., lathe, drill press, grinder) to make or repair parts.
  • Troubleshoot 480V components including drives and PLC software; knowledge of BMC and Allen Bradley is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Omron, Barber Coleman controllers; ABB, Reliance, and Yaskawa drives.
  • AC and DC drive repairs and installation.
Qualifications

  • Ability to read blueprints and use measuring instruments; perform basic failure analysis.
  • Understanding of electronic components to troubleshoot and repair.
  • Proficient with hand and power tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic operations and interpret graphs; handle varied practical problems with limited standardization.
  • 5 years of experience as an industrial electrician/maintenance or in an extrusion manufacturing environment preferred.
Work Environment

The position operates in a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to moving machinery and noise. PPE is required. Environment can range from extreme cold to extreme heat. Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, climbing, bending, reaching, kneeling, squatting, crawling, balancing, handling, gripping, and talking/hearing.
