Related Affordable is seeking a Maintenance Technician - Helper A to keep our buildings and grounds safe, functional, and inviting for residents in the Chicago area. You will perform a variety of tasks including plumbing, electrical repairs, HVAC, and carpentry, while upholding our standards for quality and safety.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in general maintenance or related field.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems.
• Affordable housing experience is a plus.
• Must be able to participate in the emergency on-call rotation.
• Willingness to embrace feedback and continuously improve.
• Strong belief in teamwork and collaboration.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
• Professional appearance aligning with company standards.
• Demonstrates accountability, reliability, and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Complete service requests in a timely manner and interact with residents to ensure their needs are met.
• Prepare vacant units to occupancy standards within established time frames
• Inspect property mechanical systems and grounds, addressing safety issues immediately with management.
• Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs.
• Perform cleaning and upkeep of common areas and grounds.
• Assist in emergency repairs as directed by supervisors and rotate on-call for emergency maintenance.
• Maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies and report any shortages.
• Conduct routine preventative maintenance activities in partnership with the supervisor.
• Other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Anticipated salary range:

$27.23 per hour

• This position is Non-Exempt, meaning eligible for overtime pay

This range is provided as a general guideline and reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary depending on a variety of factors, including the candidate’s qualifications, geographical location, and the specific responsibilities of the role. In addition to salary, this position may be eligible for performance bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.

Final compensation offers will be determined following a thorough assessment of the candidate’s background and the requirements of the position.
