Job Description

Perform a wide variety of general building maintenance, repair functions, and equipment tests related to the care and maintenance of the Health System's mechanical systems, building structure, and Fire and Safety equipment. Adhere to departmental policies and procedures, ensuring safety and compliance with regulatory agencies.

Job Responsibilities
  • Construct, repair, replace, and maintain structural woodwork and masonry on the interior and exterior of the building using both hand and power tools.
  • Repair furniture, equipment, and machinery.
  • Install and repair minor electrical equipment and lighting fixtures.
  • Repair roofs, roads, sidewalks, and interior and exterior stairs and steps.
  • Perform minor repairs to heating, air conditioning, ventilating equipment, and small-scale painting.
  • Make cost-reduction recommendations to management for electrical, fire safety, HVAC, and plumbing systems, adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Assist in snow removal. Serve as a member of the Fire Response Team and respond to emergencies.
  • Respond to facilities emergencies as needed.
  • Perform related duties as required.
ADA Essential Functions
Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years relevant experience.
  • Certified by FDNYC to conduct sprinkler, smoke detectors, fire doors, standpipe, fire hoses, fire pump, and extinguisher tests, required.
  • Ability to use tools related to carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry, and mechanical trades.
  • FDNYC certification for G17 Medical Gas and G60, preferred.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
