Job summary

Sun Communities & Sun Outdoors is seeking Maintenance Technicians in Michigan to perform routine and preventative maintenance across our communities. You will handle home and building repairs, upkeep of grounds, facilities, streets, and utility systems while delivering excellent resident service.

This role requires outdoor work, ability to lift 50 lbs, and the flexibility to on-call. You will assist with snow removal, landscaping, water systems, and coordinating with contractors.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Maintenance experience in apartment/manufactured housing preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Ensures trash/debris is picked up daily from common areas and streets.
• Completes minor repairs to rental homes and facilities as needed.
• Inspects irrigation system and performs repairs as needed.
• Maintains vacant sites, including strap-downs and debris removal.
• Removes snow from community streets, parking lots and entrances; may operate a plow or salt spreader.
• Manages lawn care: mowing, weeds control, mulch, and hedge trimming.
• Ensures streets and access routes are hazard-free.
• Maintains water systems and meters; reads/repairs as applicable.
• Reports maintenance issues to management and completes checklists.
• Keeps community presentable per Sun curb appeal standards.
• Cleans clubhouses, offices, restrooms, and maintenance areas.
• Assists manager with supervising service contractors.
• Inspects playgrounds, pools, and recreational amenities for safety and maintenance.
• Assists with move-in/move-out spotting of homes.
• Maintains community vehicles and equipment.
• Follows safety procedures including vehicle operation and supply pickup.
• Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
