Job Description
The Maintenance Technician works independently and with other plant personnel to perform preventative, predictive, and routine maintenance tasks. He or she will troubleshoot issues, repair failures of production and facilities equipment, and ensure maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness. All tasks will be performed while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company.
Job Description
The Maintenance Technician works independently and with other plant personnel to perform preventative, predictive, and routine maintenance tasks. He or she will troubleshoot issues, repair failures of production and facilities equipment, and ensure maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness. All tasks will be performed while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company.
The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED (with further technical coursework preferred); at least five years of experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics, and basic electrical repair; good written/verbal communication and math skills; and the physical ability to perform the requirements of the job. Strong computer skills a plus.
Responsibilities
- Performs both electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair of production equipment from basic hydraulics to complex CNC machinery
- Repairs and maintains plant machinery and equipment such as pumps, motors, and electrical control devices
- Performs preventive and predictive maintenance on production equipment
- Effectively troubleshoots failures and works in a team environment to determine root cause of failures
- Upgrades and modifies new and existing equipment as needed
- Participates in plant safety, health, and environmental programs
- Participates in plant shift meetings and continuous improvement activities
- Utilizes CMMS system to manage work orders and review work history
- Ensures all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed before, during, and after the process to foster a positive safety culture by having a safety-first mindset and approach during execution of activities
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary education and/or a technical trade certificate a plus
- Mechatronics degree preferred
- At least five years of experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics, and basic electrical repair
- Able to read and interpret documents and drawings
- Able to write detailed repair reports
- Must have good mathematical skills, including basic algebra, to calculate electrical/electronic equations as needed
- Experience with PLC and CNC test equipment to include troubleshooting, repairs, PMs, and other world-class maintenance measures
- Experience, preferably by formal training, in principles and standards for mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical equipment operations
- Experience demonstrating successful support of a positive safety culture
- Expertise and proficiency with basic office computer software and the ability to learn how to effectively use maintenance software to input data and research parts highly preferred
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without accommodation(s)
