Job summary

Emmaus Community of Pittsburgh is seeking a Full-Time Maintenance Technician to support maintenance across multiple sites in South Hills. Travel to all Emmaus sites is required; schedule generally M-F 9am-5pm with some weekend hours as needed.

You will assist with home, vehicle, and grounds maintenance, respond to requests promptly, and coordinate with volunteers. A valid driver's license and background checks are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in home/building maintenance.
• Good organizational skills and some knowledge of general contracting.
• Experience with small appliances and home repair; working knowledge of computers.
• Driver’s license and clean criminal background checks.

Responsibilities

• Assist Facilities Manager with general maintenance of Emmaus sites, homes, vehicles and grounds.
• Respond to maintenance requests timely and ensure completion; work with volunteers.
• Be available for on-call emergencies and respond as needed.
• Support compliance tasks for homes and perform handyman tasks (electrical, plumbing, painting).
• Assist with fleet maintenance and safety needs for all vehicles; coordinate with grounds staff.

TITLE: Full-Time Maintenance Technician (Non-Exempt)PRIMARY LOCATION: South Hills - must travel to all sitesPRIMARY SCHEDULE: Generally M-F 9am-5pm/ some weekend hours as neededREPORTS TO: Facilities ManagerJOB DESCRIPTIONResponsible for assisting the Facilities Manager with the general maintenance of all Emmaus sites including homes, vehicles and grounds.Responds to maintenance requests in a timely manner and ensures completionWorks with volunteers who are helping with facility maintenanceIs available to respond to on-call site emergencies and responds as neededHOMES:Ensures that Emmaus’ physical sites remain in compliance with 6400 regulations at all times. Especially 6400.16-86.Identifies any non-compliance areas and addresses them through to completion in a timely manner.Assists in bringing new homes into initial compliance for licensingGenerally handyman tasks: appliances, doors, windows, electrical, plumbing, painting etc.VEHICLES:Assists Facilities Manager with fleet maintenance.Addresses “as needed” vehicle issues such as unanticipated repairs, flat tires, etc.Ensures that all safety needs are in place for all vehicles at all times.GROUNDS:Supplements the work done by contracted grounds keeper and Emmaus regarding lawn care, gardening, landscaping, and snow removal as neededTends to areas not addressed by contracted grounds keeper to include annual / perennial flower planting, tree / shrub removal, weeding as needed, etc.Works with program staff to determine needs and how to address themQUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 2 years’ experience in home / building maintenance, good organizational skills, some knowledge of general contracting, small appliance and home repair, High School Diploma, working knowledge of computers.
