Job summary

The New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform a broad range of building and grounds maintenance across the museum campus, including the Sculpture Garden. You will work as part of the Facilities Team to ensure safe, functional spaces for staff and visitors.

The role involves carpentry, minor electrical/plumbing, masonry, painting, and general repairs, with occasional evenings or weekend duties for events or programs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Two to Four years’ maintenance experience.
  • Some computer skills.
  • Current Louisiana Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Perform carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry, tile, plaster, painting maintenance.
  • Assist with setup, monitoring, and tear-down of events.
  • Perform daily inspections and routine gear/equipment checks.
  • Handle mail runs and package deliveries as needed.
  • Coordinate with Facilities Manager on tasks and projects.
  • Maintain museum standards for service and safety.

The New Orleans Museumof Art is seeking applicants for the position of Maintenance Technician. TheMaintenance Technician will perform overall maintenance to all areas of theMuseum and is an integral member of the Facilities Team.

JOB SUMMARY:

Performs a variety of work in the maintenance and repair ofthe building and grounds of NOMA and the Sculpture Garden including carpentry,minor electrical and plumbing, masonry, tile, plaster, painting, sheetrock,general equipment repairs, assembling and moving of office furniture, and dailyinspections. This person is also responsible forassisting with the setup, monitoring of, and take down of special events orfunctions, daily mail runs and package deliveries.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Carpentry- Performs basic roughand finish carpentry repairs to areas such as walls, doors, frames, officefurniture, and shelving.
  • Electrical- Performs basicrepairs to outlets, switches, plate covers; and reporting unsafeelectrical conditions to the building engineer and Facilities Manager.
  • Plumbing- Performs basic plumbingrepairs of leaking pipes, faucets, and clogged lines and drains.
  • Masonry- Repair and replacementof loose or broken slate tiles, minor breaks of sidewalk and ramps, andcaulking of masonry features of NOMA.
  • Tile- Repair and replacement ofmarble and ceramic tiles throughout NOMA.
  • Plaster- Minor repair andmaintenance of plaster structures throughout NOMA.
  • Painting- Applies and preparesvarious surfaces for painting, to include oil, latex, and stain.
  • Responsible for collecting andbringing NOMA mail to various post offices and retrieving NOMA mail fromPost Office.
  • Must be able to work in crowds ofnoisy people in a pressure situation, particularly when handling multipletasks and continue to have a strong commitment to safety.
  • Must be able to adjust work toaccommodate expected and unexpected changes.
  • Coordination with the FacilitiesManager on tasks and projects for NOMA
  • Responsible for generalmaintenance duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for maintaining allstandards of service as it relates to museum standards.
  • Demonstrate knowledge andexpertise of NOMA’s policies and procedures andconfidentiality guidelines.
  • Willingness to work nights andweekends for special events or programs
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school graduates or G.E.D.equivalent
  • Two to Four years’ experience inmaintenance.
  • Some Computer Skills
  • Current Louisiana Driver'sLicense
