Job summary

Compass Group USA’s ESFM division is seeking a Maintenance Technician for our Canóvanas, PR site. You’ll perform skilled maintenance, supervise teams on projects, and help maintain HVAC, electrical, and building systems to ensure safe, reliable operations.

The candidate should have four years of skilled trade or maintenance schooling, five years in institutional maintenance, two years as a licensed Journeyman, and a valid driver’s license; benefits and a full-time schedule are included.

Qualifications

• Four years of skilled trade school or maintenance vocational schooling.
• Five years of experience as a maintenance technician in an institutional setting in an engineering or maintenance discipline.
• Two years of experience as a licensed Journeyman in the specialized trade.
• Master license in one trade or two journeyman licenses or EPA certification in Refrigerant, or journeyman plumber license, etc.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assists in decisions on repairs; reports major problems to supervision.
• Constructs, installs, maintains and repairs electrical and mechanical systems.
• Cleans and services HVAC, electrical and mechanical systems and related equipment.
• Supervises and leads a group of workers on projects.
• Reads and transmits complex instructions verbally and in writing.
• Teaches advanced maintenance skills to other department members.
• Reviews work of outside vendors and creates punch lists.
• Maintains logs, completes work orders, tests and inspections.
• Analyzes and corrects complex building system problems, alone or with a team.
• Serves as a member of facility emergency response team.

Education

Four years of skilled trade school or maintenance vocational schooling

Five years of experience as a maintenance technician in an institutional setting in an engineering or maintenance discipline

Two years of experience as a licensed Journeyman in the specialized trade

Tools

Master license in one trade or two journeyman licenses or EPA Refrigerant certification

Job Summary

Summary:
Performs a variety of skilled maintenance duties related to facility engineering and maintenance functions, while providing field leadership, ensuring quality assurance, supporting training efforts, and managing escalations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists in making decisions on all normal and complex repairs; reports major problems to the maintenance supervisor and foreman.
• Constructs, finishes, installs, maintains and repairs electrical and mechanical systems, or the facilities of any related systems, using power and hand tools and other necessary equipment.
• Cleans, lubricates, services, repairs or diagnoses malfunction of HVAC, electrical and mechanical building systems, sterilizers, sprinkler and standpipe systems, transport systems, electronic signaling systems, fire alarm systems and similar specialty equipment items with appropriate training, certification skills and licensing requirements as needed.
• Supervises and leads a group of workers on a project.
• Reads, comprehends and transmits complicated detailed instructions verbally and in writing.
• Teaches advanced maintenance skills to other members of the department.
• Reviews work of outside vendors and licensed maintenance workers; makes punch lists.
• Reports on and repairs discrepancies as assigned.
• Analyzes and corrects complex building system problems, alone or as part of a team.
• Maintains logs, performs rounds and completes work orders, tests and inspections.
• Makes recommendations for modification or improvement of preventive maintenance systems.
• Serves as a member of facility emergency response team.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Four years of skilled trade school or maintenance vocational schooling.
• Five years of experience as a maintenance technician in an institutional setting in an engineering or maintenance discipline.
• Two years of experience as a licensed Journeyman in the specialized trade.

Must have one of the following

• Master license in one trade or two of the following Journeyman Electrical License or Registered ACR Technician with EPA certification in Refrigerant, or a Journeyman Plumber License, etc.
• Valid driver’s license.
