Job summary

Hawaiian Building Maintenance (HBM) is seeking a qualified Maintenance Technician Floater to perform general maintenance and repairs on facility equipment and structures, and to maintain grounds while floating between locations in the Honolulu area.

Requirements include a valid driver’s license and hands‑on experience in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and painting, with the ability to lift up to 75 lbs. This role emphasizes safety, quality workmanship, and dependable customer service.

Qualifications

• Must pass HBM prescreen check.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Must have a valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle required
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.
• Must have basic hand tools.
• General preventative maintenance experience is required (Basic commercial plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and drywall).
• Troubleshooting abilities.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English.
• Must have good public relations skills and communication.
• Customer service oriented.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Applicants must perform basic manual labor, lift 50–75 lbs., climb stairs, and work around various locations.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs: painting, drywall, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and HVAC and grounds maintenance
• Interact with property managers, vendors, customers, etc.
• Drive to different locations to provide coverage
• Lift, push, pull a minimum of 50lbs. up to 75lbs., walk, bend, stretch during shift
• Ensure mechanical equipment and systems are working and fixed as necessary
• Create and maintain work orders
• Create and maintain purchase orders
• Perform any additional maintenance related duties as required by supervisor/property management

Hawaiian Building Maintenance (HBM) has been providing quality service since 1957. We are one of the largest facility service providers in the State of Hawaii. Our company is seeking a qualified individual with industry experience. Reporting directly to the Chief Building Engineer or the Account Manager-Engineering, the Maintenance Technician Floater will be tasked with general maintenance and repairs of facility equipment and property structures, as well as grounds maintenance while floating to different locations. Candidates must have a valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, previous hands‑on maintenance experience, proficiency in light plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, carpentry, and painting, all tasks must be performed in accordance with EPA, Hazmat, and OSHA safety regulations.

• Schedule: Varies: Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM - 8:30 PM (subjective to emergencies: after hours, weekends and holidays)
• Hourly rate: $25.00 - $26.00

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs: painting, drywall, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and grounds maintenance
