Job summary

Watershed Foods, LLC in Gridley, IL seeks a multi-craft maintenance technician focused on final packaging equipment and systems in a food manufacturing setting. You will maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve packaging machinery to support production schedules and minimize downtime.

Responsibilities include following sanitation and safety policies, performing PMs and repairs, and collaborating with Operations, Quality and Maintenance teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of industrial maintenance experience in manufacturing settings.
• Ability to troubleshoot electro-mechanical systems and packaging equipment.
• Experience with pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, sensors and related machinery.
• Understanding of electrical schematics and PLC concepts is preferred.
• Comfort working in fast-paced manufacturing and food production environments.

Responsibilities

• Follow sanitation, GMPs, HACCP and safety policies; support Food Safety initiatives.
• Troubleshoot, correct and repair equipment to maintain safe production.
• Perform PMs, inspections, pump/gearbox work, electrical troubleshooting, and component changes.
• Identify problems during inspections to prevent downtime and start root cause analyses.
• Maintain clean work area and thorough records; support weekend/extra shifts as needed.

Job Details: Job Location: Gridley, IL - Gridley, IL 61744, Salary Range: $30.00 - $40.00 Hourly,

Overall Responsibility

Serve as a multi-craft maintenance technician specializing in final packaging equipment and systems within a food manufacturing environment. Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve packaging machinery to support production schedules, minimize downtime, and ensure finished products are packaged safely, accurately, and efficiently. Promote teamwork, continuous improvement, and compliance with all company food safety, quality, sanitation, and occupational safety requirements.

Key tasks and responsibilities

• Follow Watershed Foods sanitation, GMPs, HACCP procedures, Food Safety policies and Occupational Safety Policies. Support all Watershed Foods Food Safety initiatives. Address Food Safety, Quality and Occupational Safety concerns with Operations, Quality and Maintenance Team members and contractors.
• Effectively and efficiently troubleshoot, correct, and repair equipment to maintain safe production.
• Complete maintenance tasks of PMs, inspections, pump/gearbox rebuilds, electrical troubleshooting, and changing out mechanical/electrical components.
• Identify equipment problems found during inspections and PMs to prevent equipment down time.
• Initiate root cause analysis investigations to eliminate repeat problems.
• Maintain a clean work area and maintain thorough records.
• Be available for call-in situations where support is needed on weekends and other shifts.
• Willing to come in early or work over to cover production needs.

Skills/Experience Required

• Minimum of 4 years of industrial maintenance experience (Examples: Electronic/Control systems, pneumatics, PLC systems, industrial automation, industrial refrigeration, etc.)
• Ability to troubleshoot electro-mechanical systems
• Experience maintaining or repairing industrial packaging equipment, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, bearings, sensors, and related machinery.
• Knowledge of electricity and electronic principles (Examples: motor starters, contactors, relays, 3 phase power)
• Experience troubleshooting and installing/aligning mechanical components (Examples: pumps, gear boxes, bearings, conveyors)
• Understanding of electrical schematics and P&IDs
• Team-oriented personality.
• Ability to work in fast paced environment by adjusting priorities to meet production needs.
• Well-developed sense of personal initiative and decision making.
• Meet expectations of lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying necessary for the job (100lbs) in extreme hot and cold conditions.
• Ability to install electrical conduit in accordance with NEC (preferred)
• Experience in food manufacturing (preferred)
• Knowledge of industrial refrigeration principles (helpful)
