Job summary

Dairy Farmers of America in Athens, TN is seeking a maintenance technician to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production, processing, and packaging equipment and utilities. You will read schematics, support new equipment installs, assist operators, document repairs, and stay current with safety and GMP requirements.

Responsibilities include inspecting equipment, coordinating with other departments, and maintaining documentation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Trade/technical school preferred in electrical, PLC/HMI, mechanical, welding, refrigeration or plumbing.
  • 2–4 years of maintenance experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems preferred.
  • Certification and/or license may be required during employment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance/repairs on production, processing, and packaging equipment and related systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections for reliability.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, manuals, and work orders.
  • Assist with installation of new equipment and start-up support.
  • Assist operators with training or troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
  • Document repairs and keep accurate records per SOPs.
  • Use hand/power tools and meters; ensure safe operation and maintenance.
  • Communicate with other departments and management about issues.
  • Adhere to GMP, safety, and sanitation requirements; maintain safe working conditions.
