Job summary

Tyson Foods is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support our Prepared Foods facility in the United States. The role involves cross-functional work across the plant to maintain equipment and safeguard Team Members through proactive upkeep and problem solving.

Pay is determined by experience and is paid weekly, with multiple shifts available and flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of industrial maintenance experience OR 1 year of industrial maintenance education in lieu of experience.
• Basic computer skills for logging information and daily work orders; familiarity with CMMS.
• Effective communication and basic math skills required.

Responsibilities

• Provide maintenance support with moderate supervision to ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance repairs on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic plant equipment.
• Conduct emergency mechanical or electrical repairs as needed.
• Troubleshoot issues related to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
• Safely apply knowledge and troubleshooting skills to all production equipment.
• Interact with plant personnel to achieve plant and individual goals.
• Minimize downtime due to equipment failure.

Shift Availability:

Multiple shifts available. Candidates may indicate preferred shift; placement will be based on operational needs and availability.

Must be willing to work a flexible schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide maintenance support with moderate supervision to ensure the safe and effective operation of equipment and team.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance repairs on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic plant equipment.
• Conduct emergency mechanical or electrical repairs as needed.
• Troubleshoot issues related to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
• Safely apply knowledge and troubleshooting skills to all assigned production equipment.
• Effectively interact with all plant personnel to accomplish plant and individual goals.
• Minimize downtime due to equipment failure.

Requirements:

• Education and Experience: At least 1 year of industrial maintenance experience OR 1 year of industrial maintenance experience education (e.g., possess industrial maintenance diploma or currently enrolled in technical school) in lieu of experience.
  • Applicants will be considered for Associate Maintenance Technicians, General Maintenance Technicians, and Sr Maintenance Technicians level openings.
  • Leveling determined during the interview process based on skillset, knowledge, and experience.
• Computer Skills: Basic computer skills necessary for logging information, processing daily work orders, and completing required documentation. Ability to learn and utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Communication Skills: Effective communication and basic math skills required.

Special Skills:

• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs. occasionally; ability to lift 20 lbs. frequently.
• Ability to stand on a hard surface for up to 12 hours per day.
• Ability to work in confined and tall spaces, walk, climb, utilize a ladder, operate a lift, bend, and stoop.
• Repetitive gripping, pushing, and pulling.
• Frequent overhead work.
• Temperatures inside the plant may vary from -25 degrees to over 100 degrees; outside work may also be needed.
• Basic math skills, including percentages, fractions, and measurements.
