Job summary

Kondex Corporation is seeking a Maintenance Technician - Electrician to join the Tech Services team in San Diego. You will troubleshoot and improve CNC machining centers, stamping presses, tooling systems, hydraulic/pneumatic equipment, electrical systems, and Allen-Bradley PLC controls.

The role emphasizes leadership in maintenance, preventive/predictive maintenance, and collaboration with Engineering, Production, Quality, and vendors. First shift hours are 6:00 am to 2:30 pm.

Qualifications

• Journeyman Electrician or equivalent multi-trade experience.
• Minimum five years in industrial maintenance with CNC/machining centers, stamping presses, tooling systems, and automated equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control systems.
• Experience programming/troubleshooting Allen-Bradley PLC systems (ControlLogix/CompactLogix).

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical resource for CNC machining centers, stamping presses, tooling systems, and automated equipment control systems.
• Lead advanced troubleshooting and repair across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC, HMI, VFD, and automation systems.
• Program and support Allen-Bradley PLC platforms (ControlLogix/CompactLogix).
• Support reliability and continuous improvement through preventive/predictive maintenance and root-cause analysis.
• Assist capital projects, equipment upgrades, and installations.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Quality, Purchasing, vendors, and contractors to improve performance and spare parts management.
• Set maintenance priorities and provide technical leadership during failures.
• Develop PM procedures, troubleshooting guides, training materials, and mentor technicians.
• Act as primary maintenance contact in absence of the Facilities & Technical Services Manager.

This position serves as a resource for advanced troubleshooting, equipment reliability, technical training, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position provides expertise in CNC machining centers, stamping presses, tooling systems, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, electrical systems, and Allen-Bradley PLC-based control systems.

Current opening on 1st shift

1st shift hours: Monday - Friday 6:00 am to 2:30 pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Serve as a technical resource for CNC machining centers, stamping presses, tooling systems, automated manufacturing equipment, and associated control systems.
2. Lead advanced troubleshooting and repair activities involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC, HMI, VFD, servo, and industrial automation systems.
3. Program, modify, troubleshoot, document, and support Allen-Bradley PLC platforms, including ControlLogix and CompactLogix systems.
4. Support equipment reliability and continuous improvement initiatives through preventive/predictive maintenance, root cause analysis, and process optimization.
5. Assist with planning and execution of capital projects, equipment upgrades, machine installations, process improvements, and equipment reliability initiatives.
6. Collaborate with Engineering, Tool Room, Production, Quality, Purchasing, vendors, and contractors to improve equipment performance, reliability, and spare parts management.
7. Assist in establishing maintenance priorities, coordinating technical resources, and providing technical leadership during equipment failures and maintenance activities.
8. Develop maintenance procedures, troubleshooting guides, PM documentation, training materials, and mentor Maintenance Technicians.
9. Serve as the primary maintenance contact and technical lead in the absence of the Facilities & Technical Services Manager and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

1. Journeyman Electrician or Maintenance Mechanic certification, associate degree in Electromechanical Technology, or equivalent multi-trade industrial maintenance experience.
2. Minimum five (5) years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, including support of CNC machining centers, stamping presses, tooling systems, and automated manufacturing equipment. Advanced troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, automation, and industrial control systems, with demonstrated experience programming, troubleshooting, and modifying Allen-Bradley PLC systems, including ControlLogix and CompactLogix platforms, utilizing online monitoring, I/O diagnostics, and program analysis.
3. Experience configuring and troubleshooting industrial control technologies, including VFDs, servo systems, HMIs, industrial communication networks, Ethernet/IP, FactoryTalk View, and PanelView applications.
4. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, hydraulic schematics, machine drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation.
5. Demonstrated technical leadership experience with the ability to provide technical guidance, training, mentoring, and departmental support in the absence of management.
