Job summary

Steelsummit Holdings is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support equipment reliability at our Tennessee facility. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems, and work closely with production to resolve issues and minimize downtime.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED with 2+ years of related experience, strong safety awareness, and the ability to lift 50 pounds and work on concrete surfaces.

  • Undertake other duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY

As a Maintenance Technician at SteelSummit Tennessee, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance and longevity of all equipment essential to our operations. Responsibilities will encompass a wide range of maintenance tasks aimed at safeguarding the efficiency, reliability, and safety of our facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Foster strong collaboration with production personnel to promptly address equipment-related concerns and ensure smooth operations.
  • Execute comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance tasks on equipment as per established schedules, spanning weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, semi-annual, and annual intervals.
  • Continuously enhance proficiency in troubleshooting across electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems to swiftly resolve issues and optimize equipment performance.
  • Demonstrate adeptness in operating all workshop equipment with a keen emphasis on safety and efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
  • High school education or GED and 2+ years of related experience or training.
  • Practical electrical experience, including working with wiring and components.
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job, including lifting 50 pounds and working on your feet on a concrete floor for the entire shift.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Position demands prolonged periods of standing, crouching, climbing, and walking.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs or more, carry, and manipulate heavy materials and equipment.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and work with heights 3 ft and above.
  • Capacity to endure repetitive tasks and maintain focus for extended periods.
  • Ability to hear warning signals and communicate effectively in a noisy environment.
  • Clear vision is necessary to inspect materials and read gauges/instruments.
  • Problem‑solving skills: ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues that may arise during operations.
  • Capable of making quick decisions to optimize processes and minimize downtime.
  • Ability to adapt to changing demands and work effectively under pressure.
  • Effective communication is essential for coordinating with team members and reporting any issues promptly.
  • Maintain orderly work areas and adhere to production schedules.
EQUIPMENT, AIDS, AND TOOLS

Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves, safety glasses, and steel‑toed boots.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Exposure to moving machinery, heavy equipment, and sharp objects.
  • Work areas may be subject to fluctuating temperatures, including hot and cold conditions, dependent on the season.
  • Loud noise from machinery and equipment operation.
  • Presence of dust, debris, and airborne particles typical of an industrial setting.
  • Adherence to strict safety protocols to mitigate risks associated with the manufacturing process.
SUPERVISION AND CO‑WORKERS/ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS

Supervision and/or co‑worker assistance are readily available. Attendance is closely monitored, as unscheduled absences may jeopardize meeting customer requirements due to insufficient staffing.

CONSEQUENCES IF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS NOT PERFORMED
  • Failure to observe safety procedures may result in serious injury up to fatality and/or damage and loss of material or property.
  • Failure to follow established safety rules and procedures may result in loss of position or termination of employment.
  • Failure to meet the requirements of the Attendance Policy will result in termination of employment.
  • Failure to promptly and properly repair equipment may result in safety hazards to employees.
  • Failure to properly install, repair, modify or relocate new and existing equipment in a timely manner may result in production delays or customer delivery delays, which may in turn result in the loss of business.
  • Failure to follow preventive maintenance schedule may result in damage to the equipment resulting in down time while it is repaired, which may in turn result in the loss of business.
