Job DescriptionMaintenance Technician - Decatur, ILPosition Summary:The primary focus of the role is to ensure the safe and efficient operation of HVAC/R systems and kitchen equipment. The technician will:
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC/R and kitchen equipment in the Decatur area, with occasional support for Erlanger, KY, and Chicago, IL.
- Assist in the installation of systems for new construction, remodels, and retrofits.
Physical Requirements:The role requires physical endurance and adaptability:
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb ladders or stairs.
- Perform heavy lifting as needed.
- Work in adverse weather conditions, such as extreme heat, cold, or inclement weather.
Qualifications:Licenses/Certifications:
- Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to operate a motor vehicle in a work environment.
Experience:
- At least five years of experience in HVAC/R systems and maintenance.
Critical/Essential Job Functions:The role involves a wide range of technical tasks and responsibilities, including but not limited to:
HVAC/R Systems:
- Diagnose and repair HVAC/R systems using Building Automation Software.
- Install and upgrade HVAC/R systems as part of construction or retrofit projects.
- Troubleshoot and repair HVAC components, such as pumps, motors, boilers, chillers, heat pumps, and cooling towers.
Kitchen Equipment:
- Repair and install kitchen appliances and equipment.
Preventive Maintenance:
- Perform maintenance tasks such as replacing filters and belts, cleaning, and testing equipment.
Field Service:
- Troubleshoot, repair, and replace equipment in the field.
- Maintain accurate records of refrigerant usage.
Plumbing and Ductwork:
- Perform basic plumbing repairs and installations (e.g., domestic water, refrigeration).
- Construct and install ductwork.
General Responsibilities:
- Be available for on-call shifts during evenings and weekends.
- Perform additional tasks such as snow removal and operating a forklift as needed.
Technical and Knowledge Proficiencies:The candidate must have expertise in:
- Electricity and electrical circuits.
- Thermodynamic properties of refrigerants and refrigeration systems.
- Proper use of tools and pipe fitting.
