Job summary

Ardent Mills is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to support production expansion and perform maintenance across plant systems, including PLCs and electrical/mechanical equipment. You will troubleshoot, repair, and document activities while maintaining GMP/HACCP compliance and a strong safety focus.

Job description

Maintenance Technician I

As a Maintenance Technician, this position will support production expansion as need. This position is involved with all aspects of maintenance at the facility, including troubleshooting automation equipment and sensors (PLCs), industrial electric systems, motors, bearings/gears, and other systems and components. Our team also does occasional fabrication and welding work. To succeed, you must be able to:

Your responsibilities

• Provide preventative and on-demand maintenance on all plant systems during assigned shift.
• Work in a safe and professional manner with SAFETY always being the top priority.
• Comply with GMP, HACCP and Regulatory mandates.
• Ensure all proper documentation is completed and filed appropriately.
• Be familiar with equipment and operations within the entire facility.
• Perform housekeeping and sanitation duties as related to work areas.
• Troubleshoot problems and correct them in a timely and most economical manner.
• Remain on 24-hour standby for emergency maintenance calls as scheduled.
• Be able to prioritize maintenance issues and correct them efficiently.

Essential skills and experience

• High School Diploma
• Strong mechanical aptitude.

• Able to troubleshoot mechanical systems by working with operations and/or utilizing outside resources.
• Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and other reference materials.

• Proficient in English both written and verbally.
• Proficient in computer tools including email and spreadsheets.

Good to have

• Associates Degree in a technical field, either a mechanical or electrical discipline.
• Experience with plant automation systems (PLCs, Variable Frequency Drives, Electrical, Mechanical systems).
• Experience with OSHA, food safety rules, and regulations.
• Experience with electrical installations and wiring practices.
• Experience in repairing and troubleshooting sensing and control devices.
• Working knowledge of predictive maintenance technologies (vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasonics, motor testing, etc.).
• Experience with precision maintenance techniques (sheave alignment, belt tensioning, fastener torque, balancing, etc.).
• Demonstrates an effective ability to teach/coach others.
• Experience working in a team environment.
• Experience with plant floor automation, office Ethernet, DeviceNet, and Controlnet wiring preferred but not required.
• Understanding of plant electrical systems.
• Understanding of electrical safety regulation, NFPA 70E, and NEC regulation.

Physical requirements and working conditions (with or without reasonable accommodation)

Willing and able to work in a plant environment that at times, may be dusty, include temperature extremes, involve climbing, heavy lifting, and other forms of physical exertion.

Willing and able to work with wheat products, dust, i.e. no wheat /gluten sensitivity, intolerance and/or allergies.

Other considerations: This role provides the opportunity to network internally and externally within the industry, our customers, and vendors. This provides development to grow in the Maintenance and Reliability field. Must help support the asset health and reliability within the plant. Must help support the maintenance and reliability process. Team members must be clean shaven in order to perform tasks where respiratory protection is required and the use of a respirator (including N-95 dust mask) requires a proper seal for adequate protection.

Competitive Compensation: We provide market-driven base pay, based on skills, abilities, and level of experiences. Our salary ranges are broad, and individual salary will be market competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of skills and level of experience. The starting range for this position is $26.00 - $28.00, with additional earning potential possible commensurate with experience. Additionally, we believe that our team members are the reason for our success and all team members are incentive eligible with a target based on contribution, company performance, and individual results achieved. While the specific bonus plan and target amount will be determined based on the role and breadth of contributions, the targeted bonus plan and targeted percentage amount for this role is Bonus - OIP, 5% Annual.

Shift Differential

The Company provides a shift differential to eligible employees who are assigned to and work shifts outside of standard business hours. Shift differential is paid in addition to the employee's regular base hourly rate and is included in the calculation of the regular rate for overtime purposes.
