Maintenance Technician/Custodian - St. Paul's Parish - Damascus Maryland

St. Paul's Catholic Church in Damascus, Maryland, is hiring a Maintenance Technician/Custodian for a part-time position.

Job Details:

  • Part-time, 16 hours per week
  • Report to the Pastor
  • Pay rate: $20.00 to $21.00 per hour

The Maintenance Technician/Custodian will be responsible for maintenance and upkeep of buildings and grounds, including the main church, chapel, rectory, parish center, and storage areas.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing basic maintenance and repair work on parish buildings and equipment
  • Conducting routine maintenance such as lubrication, cleaning, and filter changes
  • Maintaining supplies and equipment for maintenance tasks
  • Setting up and taking down facilities, hauling and moving equipment
  • Cleaning facilities and removing trash as needed
  • Communicating maintenance issues to the Pastor and staff
  • Occasional early morning, evening, and weekend work
  • Attending staff and other meetings as required

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of professional experience in building and grounds maintenance
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to lift 30-40 pounds
  • Effective team player with strong interpersonal, mechanical, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to diagnose facility problems and coordinate repairs and bids
  • Organizational skills for maintaining files and service agreements
  • Compliance with Archdiocesan Child Protection Policy and background checks
  • Self-motivated with minimal supervision
