Job summary

Lexima Lodging in Wichita, Kansas, seeks a dependable Maintenance Technician to keep the hotel safe, functional, and well maintained. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance across the property, identify issues, troubleshoot effectively, and complete repairs within your skill level while recognizing when specialized outside service is required.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in maintenance or engineering, preferably in a hotel, and fluent English with strong communication.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years maintenance or engineering experience, preferably in a hotel establishment.
• Must be fluent in English and have good verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience reading prints/schematics and operating equipment is preferred.
• Basic computer skills; comfortable learning new technology.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Food Hygiene and Fire Safety policies.
• Develop and follow up action plans from technical visits and audits.
• Operate and maintain hotel mechanical systems (domestic water, hot water, chilled water, pool).
• Maintain parts inventory, label and log parts, and track warranties and service bulletins.
• Assist with building maintenance and complete work orders (ceiling tiles, lights, vinyl, etc.).
• Maintain a safe work/storage area and follow safety standards for tools and equipment.
• Follow hotel brand purchasing procedures with nominated suppliers.
• Assist other engineers with repairs.
• Fill out daily paperwork.
• Support the General Manager/Chief Engineer with other duties as needed.

Job description

We are seeking a dependable, hands-on Maintenance Technician who takes pride in keeping a facility safe, functional, and well maintained. This position is responsible for both preventive and corrective maintenance across the property and requires someone who can identify problems, troubleshoot effectively, complete repairs within their skill level, and recognize when specialized outside service is required. The ideal candidate is proactive rather than reactive—someone who notices an issue before it becomes an emergency and follows the work through to completion.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with company policies Health & Safety, Food Hygiene and Fire Safety.

• Develop and follow up action plans and recommendations as highlighted during RTM’s/TOMs technical visits and technical audits.

• Operate and maintain hotel mechanical systems such as domestic water system, hot water systems, chilled water systems, pool systems.

• Maintains and organizes parts inventory by receiving and labeling ordered parts and fixtures, placing parts and fixtures on designated shelves, logging and accounting for parts and fixtures received and used, analyzing logs to determine frequency of use and need for replacement, and keeping track of owners manuals, warranty expiration dates and service bulletins

• Assist with building maintenance and completing work orders such as replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, patching vinyl, to maintain the hotel and keep the product quality standard.

• Maintains a safe work and storage area by cleaning and organizing designated storage area, storing tools and materials, repairing or replacing old or broken tools and equipment following established procedures, and following established safety standards while using tools and equipment.

• To comply fully with the hotel and brand purchasing procedures using nominated suppliers.

• Assist other engineers with repairs.

• Fill out daily paperwork.

• Any other duty as deemed suitable by the Hotel General Manager/Chief Engineer

Qualifications

• At least 2 years maintenance or engineering experience, preferably in a hotel establishment.

• Previous experience as a hotel maintenance tech is preferred or comparable maintenance experience at an establishment such as apartment complex or office building.

• Prefer basic skills in reading prints, schematics, and equipment operations instructions.

• Experience in maintenance or building trades preferred.

• Possess basic computer skills and be comfortable learning and using technology.

• Must have good verbal and written communication skills.

• Able to handle stressful situations, work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize well.

• Display a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

• Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.

• An independent thinker, able to make decisions based upon information gathered from appropriate resources.

• Ability to communicate effectively with the public and other Team Members.

• Must be fluent in English.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, or hear.

• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

• Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
