Job summary

Howmet Aerospace Inc. in Skokie, IL, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to mechanically troubleshoot, repair and maintain a range of industrial machinery and systems.

The role requires rebuilding or repairing machines to original operating conditions and familiarity with CNC machines, punch presses, and spot-welding equipment. You will plan preventative maintenance, document repairs, and collaborate with Engineering, Tool Room, and Production teams to maximize equipment uptime.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Previous manufacturing experience.
• Must be able to fabricate, weld, or machine parts as required.
• Must have some knowledge of mechanical troubleshooting including power transmission, fluid power, and pneumatics.
• Ability to read, write, and understand written specifications, procedures, and prints.
• Ability to design and execute from verbal instructions.
• Must possess good mechanical aptitude and have the ability to work on close-tolerance equipment and/or parts.
• Ability to use various measuring devices (torque wrench, micrometers, Vernier calipers, dial indicators etc.)
• Must be able to use math to calculate dimensions and determine equipment setups.
• Safety and quality conscious.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair and maintain industrial machinery and systems.
• Rebuild or repair machines to original operating conditions.
• Familiar with CNC machines, punch presses, and spot-welding equipment.
• Plan and implement preventative maintenance to maximize uptime.
• Maintain records and order spare parts.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Tool Room, and Production leads as needed.
