Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Maintenance Worker to support Environmental Management Service at the Medical Center and CBOCs.

The role requires performing maintenance, carpentry, and repairs, assembling furniture, installing shelving, and operating a van, sedan, truck, forklift, and utility vehicle as needed. The incumbent will follow safety protocols, use a range of hand and power tools, and work Monday through Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm in a facilities environment that may

Qualifications

Experience in maintenance and repair of furniture and fixtures.
Ability to use and maintain common hand and power tools.
Demonstrated safety awareness and ability to follow directions.

Responsibilities

Perform maintenance including carpentry, shelving, furniture assembly and repair at Medical Center and CBOCs.
Assemble/disassemble and repair desks, chairs, bookcases with common tools.
Install shelving, cabinets, wall art, signage, and other fixtures into various surfaces.
Prepare surfaces for coating and apply finishes (stain, varnish, paint).
Operate vehicles (van, sedan, truck) and equipment responsibly on Government installations.
Operate a forklift and a utility vehicle; move pallets and equipment as needed.
