Job summary

Blue Water Hospitality in Cape Charles, VA, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain property and equipment across the resort and cottages. This full-time role supports guest satisfaction and daily operations.

You will handle electrical, plumbing, and HVAC tasks, perform inspections, keep logs, and assist in preparing cottages for new guests. A year of maintenance experience and a high school diploma are preferred; some roles require a valid driver's

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 1 year of maintenance experience.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid driver’s license may be required.
• Good physical condition and strength.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain property equipment, fixtures, or mechanics.
• Respond to maintenance requests and complete tasks promptly.
• Inspect cottages, buildings, and common areas.
• Maintain maintenance tools and logs and keep the maintenance room organized.
• Perform electrical, heating, and plumbing repairs including basic electrical work, HVAC, and plumbing tasks.
• Prepare vacant rooms or cottages for new guests (carpentry, drywall, painting).
• Ensure the property is clean, organized, and guest-ready.
• Assist in other duties as assigned and maintain reliable attendance.

INTRODUCTION TO ROLE

The maintenance technician performs a range of duties, including installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining property and equipment. Maintenance Technicians ensure daily operational requirements are met to maintain optimal efficiency and exceed customer expectations.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Maintenance Technician has a basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and other systems. Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods. Working knowledge of tools, common appliances, and devices.

• Good physical condition and strength with a willingness to work overtime

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

• Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain property equipment, fixtures, or mechanics.
• Responds to management, staff, and resident maintenance requests and quickly executes the performance of requests
• Perform inspections of all cottages, buildings, and common areas
• Maintains tools and maintenance equipment to ensure they are in good working order; keeps the maintenance room in neat condition
• Performs electrical, heating, and plumbing repairs, including Basic electrical ability, changing outlets, fixtures, and breakers. Basic HVAC knowledge of boilers and forced air furnaces. Basic plumbing, such as changing out faucets, re-piping, replacing toilets, replacing sinks, and unclogging drains
• Maintain all maintenance logs, work orders, and any other paperwork as needed
• Assist in the preparation of vacant rooms or cottages for new guests, including carpentry work, drywall, painting, staining, and other necessary repairs and improvements
• Ensure the property is clean, orderly, well-manicured, and always guest-ready.
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Provides regular and reliable attendance

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

The Maintenance Technician reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.

WHAT YOU BRING

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age!
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a maintenance role
• Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills
• A valid driver's license may be required (dependent on the property)
• Good physical condition and strength

WHAT IT TAKES (PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS)

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift or move items weighing over fifty pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The hospitality environment is fast-paced, and you may sometimes be required to cover or assist with tasks/job functions outside of the job you were hired for. We need each of our team members to have an All-Hands-On-Deck mindset.
