He or she will be responsible for ensuring that production stays in operation by maintaining machinery, buildings, and mechanical equipment. He or she must be able to work on a variety of different types of equipment and demonstrate mechanical and maintenance knowledge. The Maintenance Technician also supports functions in line development, production, sanitation and other areas as needed.
Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements on motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, production dryers and large capacity horizontal blenders. Read and follow diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and troubleshoot issues. Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation and provide timely solutions and prevent down time. Use a variety of power and hand tools to dismantle, examine, and repair defective equipment. Control downtime by communicating with production managers to schedule preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment when not in use. Assist in fabrication and repair while utilizing shop equipment and tools. Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies by checking inventory stock and notifying maintenance Manager of items needed. Follow all safety procedures and follow Lock-Out Tag-Out procedures to isolate and de-energize equipment prior to attempting repairs or maintenance. on a scissor lift or similar equipment. Must demonstrate basic knowledge of mechanics, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and pneumatics. Computer literacy required; must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, and the Internet. Must be able to work in a facility that handles allergens including, but not limited to: wheat, soy, egg, milk, and mustard.
