Job summary

CBRE Local Maintenance is seeking an Apprentice to develop on-the-job skills maintaining buildings, industrial systems, and equipment. The role supports preventive maintenance and repairs under the Engineering and Technical Services function.

The technical apprentice will observe engineers, assist with installation and modification of equipment, and help ensure energy management and code compliance while following established procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or currently in a 2- or 4-year program or technical school.
• Able to lift 50 lbs and handle physical tasks as required.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Receive training from engineers in safe repair procedures.
• Observe and assist with preventive maintenance and repairs on building systems.
• Assist with installation and modification of equipment and systems.
• Support energy management to ensure efficient operation of systems.
• Inspect installations for code and safety compliance.
• Follow procedures for routine tasks with minimal discretion.

About The Role

As a CBRE Maintenance Technical Apprentice, you will develop on the job skills to maintain buildings, industrial systems, and equipment on an ongoing basis.

This job is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems.

What You’ll Do

• Receive training from current engineers in proper job safety and repair procedures.
• Observe engineers while they perform ongoing preventive maintenance and repairs on facility mechanical, electrical, and other installed building systems, equipment, and facilities.
• Assist with installation and modification of building equipment and systems.
• Work with management to ensure energy management by taking measures to verify that all systems are operating in the most efficient manner.
• Inspect new or existing installations for compliance with building codes and safety regulations.
• Follow a set procedure in the performance of repetitive tasks or job activities.
• Impact through methods, tasks, and duties which are clearly defined and followed with little to no discretion.

What You’ll Need:

• High School Diploma, GED, or currently enrolled in a 2 or 4-year college program or technical school.
• Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
• Ability to develop skills to perform basic activities in own job.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
• Organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
