Job Description

Job Title: 1st Shift Maintenance Technician

Pay Rate: $28-$37/hr DOE
Industry: Food Manufacturing

  • Strong electrical skills, including PLC troubleshooting.
  • Mechanical skills, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Safety-oriented with experience in changing motors, gearboxes, sensors, etc.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support our food manufacturing operations. This role involves general maintenance and repair of facility equipment, processing and packaging systems, and property structures. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background and a solid understanding of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and vacuum systems, while maintaining compliance with OSHA, EPA, and Hazmat regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electrical power and controls (basic level).
  • Diagnose and service vacuum, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
  • Repair and maintain processing and packaging equipment.
  • Perform installations under supervision.
  • Conduct basic welding of stainless steel and carbon steel components.
  • Measure, cut, and drill using hand tools and machine shop equipment.
  • Interpret basic electrical schematics.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain facility grounds and building structures.
  • Follow GMPs and adhere to FSIS/USDA standards where applicable.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed.
  • Collaborate with other departments and maintain a safe, clean work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in industrial maintenance or related field.
  • Experience in meat manufacturing and familiarity with FSIS/USDA regulations is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work from written instructions, schematics, and verbal directions.
  • Proficiency in basic math, including fractions, ratios, and percentages.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in cold, noisy environments.
  • Flexibility to work long hours and weekends when necessary.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Working Conditions:

This position operates in a production facility environment. Candidates must be comfortable working in cold, wet, and loud areas, and capable of performing physically demanding tasks including frequent stooping, bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
